Another "Help me find this book!" thread

Sadly, I have almost no information to go on. If anyone can identify this, I will be both grateful and awed.

I have this image in my head of an illustration from a picture book I read when I was a kid (the 80s). It's two squirrels, fighting (over something?) and/or slightly injured. One of the squirrels has, I believe, a black eye or maybe a bandage. There might be an acorn involved? The lines of the illustration are really clean--thin black outlines and simple colors, I think. I don't think the squirrels were the focus of the book.

Anybody have guesses?

Wow, you won't believe this, but my mil spent *years* trying to find out the name of the Miss Suzy book!! What is it about that darn squirrel?

As you explained the picture, I had such a totally vivid, clear picture of those darned squirrels in my mind's eye. Wow, weird.
