I went into labor late afternoon the day before my scheduled labor induction. Kept busy at home for a few hours packing up last-minute things and tidying the house. Early in the morning on July 2, after about 10 hours of labor, baby Tobias was born.
I believe that God always hears and answers prayers, and I'm grateful that he answered so many of ours with "yes" this week: we managed to avoid an induction I was unsure about, I had a super-helpful nurse, the hospital had a very relaxing jacuzzi tub to labor in, and everyone is healthy and well (and home today). The nurse asked me lots of helpful questions like "do you want me to ever offer you pain relief drugs, or will you ask if you want them", "how do you want the lights when your baby is born" etc. She was also very helpful with breastfeeding, and was just fun to be around (ever been encouraged to push in Spanglish?..."again...otra vez...right into your bottom...you're doing great...otra vez").
Oh, and my "small for dates" "possibly has stopped growing" baby weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. Bigger than me or any of my siblings at birth. Surprised everyone, I think. My doctor did admit that I hid him very well, and that next time if I actually measure 40 cm, he'll suspect about a humungous baby.
: Well, that's in the past and I'm so happy to be home with my beautiful son!
