I'll be living in the small town on Nokomis, IL in a few weeks. Still looking for a midwife that serves the area.

LBM-

DD1 is 2 1/2 and DD2 is 3 months. We pretty much stick to API-Peoria stuff and the Breastfeeding Support Group at Pekin Hosp. DD1 was refluxey and spirited/high-needs. And we moved here three years ago not knowing anyone. the Peoria group was life-saving for me.

Your lil one(s)?

I know where Nokomis is! My husband has family in the area (Vandalia, Taylorville). No leads on a midwife for you though, I'll check with his family and see if they know of anyone.

I live in Macomb - home of Western Illinois University!

I'm South of Peoria, I think about 2 hours. An hour from Springfield. Yeah I've contacted so many people through email and even phone trying to find a midwife but no luck. Got the name of one person but their contact info isn't valid anymore.

I'm also in Peoria! Funny, I was wondering the same thing as Sally....how do we not know each other? Though Sally is far more involved with API Peoria than I am. lol

If I remember correctly, LBM, you teach at a college around here. I'm wondering if you know Mary. She's also involved with API Peoria.

I have a DS, who is 3 1/2 years old, and DD is 7 months old.

I am in Peoria too. I have a 3 year old son. I really need to check out the attachment parenting group, I haven't gotten around to it yet.

AJBaby... we have our calendar on Meetup now. www.meetup.com/apipeoria Once you apply to join, you'll get a welcome phone call and then access (we're protective of the info, since we indicate when/where minor kids are going to be, and sometimes rsvps indicate that spouses are out of town. kwim?)

We are looking at moving to Centralia/Mt. Vernon. I can't find any sign of an AP network there. There is a LLL, so hopefully that will be a jumping off point. Anyone around that area?

okay all you central IL mamas, I need your help! I've posted in the Vaccine threads on MDC and in this Tribal area in general.

I'm having a hard time finding an anti-vax friendly ped, and preferably one that knows how to care for an intact boy. (but that's not crucial...i'll jus tmake it quite clear to him/her if he touches my son's foreskin and tries to retract him it'll get ugly....)

I mainly just want a doc who isn't going to hassle me every time i go because my son isn't vaccinated and this baby that i'm currently pregnant with won't be either..... and i'm having no luck. I'm in Lincoln and don't mind driving to Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington, Decatur.....

thx

There are a ton of unvac-friendly peds in the Peoria area. I have girls, so can't speak offhand wrt uncirced. I know lots of families that do have uncirced boys, so I'll ask around and get back to you.

Dr. Heather M. Mclauchlan

This is who all my kids see, we love her! She's a mom to 2 boys who are around the ages of two of my girls. She is NOT pushy with vax's and knows to not retract!:

We have Dr. Halperin and he is very supportive of our wishes to not vax and has never tried to talk us into vaxing. Also very supportive of not circing or trying to retract eiher. Very nice and super laid back. Only bad thing is his NPs are terrible so if you have a sick kid and can only see one of the NPs then I would be on guard.

ETA: that i have 2 intact un vaxed boys.

We see Dr. Darren Conklin at 687-5900. He is in an office next to Kroger on Sterling in Peoria.

Dr Lucas Pogue in Bloomington. He comes highly recommended. There are lots of other non vax friendly drs in B/N too though. Feel free to join our AP group.
