I'm finally getting my act together and thinking about starting on the candles I plan to make for extended family this year. I was wondering if anyone has a favorite candle-making supplier? This will be my first time making candles, and I'm really excited! But I'm also clueless. I've got a book on hold at the library, and any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've been following this thread since it started...you're all very inspiring!

I'm no expert and only did it the one time...

The stuff I used was a hand me down but I noticed the same supplies at Joanns(I know there is fancier stuff out there but I was going for what I had).I used a tin can(I didn't want to be scraping wax out of one of my pots)and a pot as a double boiler.I used the wicks with the little disc at the bottom(I'm sure there is a name for them).I cut up the wax, melted it and poured it into my teacups. That's it(Oh,you do need to let them cool and then top them off because there will be a big crater.Although I kind of liked the look of the crater). It was fun!Next I think I'm going to try reusing some of the candles I have to make new ones for my sister.I think it should work just as well.

So I didn't accomplish my goal of finishing the socks BUT I'm that much closer. I saw a thread for a homemade train table in the toy forum and dh and I have decided to make that for ds instead of a few small things...ds already has the train set and we're thinking we can make the table with scenes ect for less then 50...Im hoping less then 30. And it's seeming like it will be ALOT less work then knitting the harry potter doll...lol

Nice list!I hope we get to see the knitted goods when your finished.
Well, usually by this time of year, I have everything done or nearly done. But I started a crafting business, so that stuff has taken priority. I'll be sure to post some pics on my flikr when I'm done. I can't wait to see how everyone else's projects turn out too!

Well, even if you didn't finish your goal I'm glad to hear you're still going. The train table sounds great! The kids I took care of had one and they used it for everything. They barely used it for trains but they played at it all the time.

Wow!Every year.I'm definitely going to try for this early every year from now on.Although my mom and her friend, who also make gifts, were joking with me and said they weren't going to accept any gifts from me because by the time Christmas came the gifts would be dusty and expired.

As soon as the bread is done baking I'm off to try to make nap time productive. And yes,I am posting this to try and make myself stick to it.Instead of just eating half a loaf of hot bread and then snuggling in my daughter's bead.

Here are the mini totes for the one year olds.

I'm almost done with my knitted (birthday) apron.

Finally got my first pair of socks on the needles yesterday!

Both are for birthdays, but they're in the winter time, so they're kind of winter holidays.

I won't know who I have to make Christmas gifts for yet, since we haven't drawn names.

I made my first gift tonight, a pirate pillow for my two year old ds. It's part of a bedding set I am making him.

I decided I am going to work hard and get everything done by Thanksgiving. I put everything off last year and didn't really sleep on Christmas Eve. It was super stressful. So now I have 67 days to do this. I think I can.

What I am making

-quilt for ds - pirates
-quilt for dd- mermaids
-peg people family for the kids
-texture blocks for dd
-pj pants for dd, ds, dh and me that match to wear on Christmas
-Cutsie outfits for the kids for Christmas eve
-waldorf style doll for dd (using this tutorial, I think http://greenbeanboutique.blogspot.co...tyle-doll.html )
-a set of puzzles for ds out of family photos
-apron for mil
-lap quilt for mom
-pj pants for my brothers and bil (maybe some freezer paper stenciled tshirts as well)

And I have a lot to figure out, but that's plenty to work on

Everyone's lists are great! I haven't restarted the socks yet..I'm just about to since ds is goneout for awhile....And I just found the huge thomas stocking I got on discount in Jan for him so I have to pull that out and sew it together..HE'LL LOVE IT!!!!

I also remembered that we usually get dh's cousins kids something every year but that's a trip to the crayola factory by my Grandmas..and 5 bucks each which is a lot considering how much I spend on my own kids

I'm still stumped on dh and REALLY stumped on stockings! So far I found a book @ goodwill for ds....and I'll get him a couple things @crayola...but then I'm stuck! And what do you get/make an almost 1 y/old dd for her stocking/gifts? BAH

I'm about to to the giving up on the holidays and going shopping lol
