Christmas!or any other December(ish)time gift giving celebration! - Page 31

Well you crafting machines. We are getting close..
I still haven't made the sword, but thats just laziness. I'm tired lately.
I'm actually really in the mood to get some new yarn which I have not had in a long time. I want to crochet myself some wrist warmers and a cowl. We'll see how that goes. Wish me luck, I can really screw up some crocheting without trying. LOL But sometimes I do alright and I just keep trying. Figure with practice I'll get better eventually. The slippers turned out pretty good actually. And I have made some neat things in the past, so I don't know what the problem is when I screw it up. Mostly not paying attention and counting I guess.
Have a great weekend!

I just gave my husband his handknit socks today because I didn't want to wait any longer. He loved them and said they wre wonderfully soft and warm. Yay

Still knitting the green afghan but am finding less and less time to do it as other "Christmas" things keep getting in the way (x-mas programs, baking, cleaning, more tempting knitting....)

awesome idea for the backpack! I am sure he will love it! DH and I went out last night and I picked up some yarn to knit mini bella mittens for DS. The only yarn I had in green was pf and I can barely stand it on my wrists- so I needed some much softer wool for him. I just started those this morning. I believe size 4s and worsted will result in a small childs mitten. Hope so at least.

I have to think of something to make for my other sister yet. Not really bursting with ideas. I was thinking about knitting wrist warmers- but not sure if I can commit to that- the last time I made her an awesome gift- a fabulous quilt (so much time and money for a double bed size...)- she dumped it on the floor and the dog used it for his bed. So mature she is not.... I might just buy her something.

Thanks! You know I was kinda thinking about that the other day.I was thinking about how fun it would be to make presents for all you ladies. How much we all would appreciate each other's work. And speaking of that...yeah,I think I might buy something for the sister who gave the handmade quilt to the dog.or maybe a food gift?

Omgosh lets do this! Lets do a private swap (hosted in the swap area of course) between those of us on this thread. Maybe Feb or something after we all breathe from the holidays? That would be so fun. Although, I have to say I'm intimidated. Y'all made such great stuff. But it would be fun. Maybe we could do a round robin type swap. I just saw one posted in the swap forum and thought it looked cool. Think about it!

Rere- your things are amazing! I'm sure they'll be well received.

I will set up a swap for us on this thread after the holidays. I'll ask for ideas of how we want to do it after New Years. Hooray!
I would also like to get something homemade, I never do either.

Yay!I'll be in for swapping too!

So,somehow I missed the uncles in law opening their gifts but my MIL thought her tote was cute. That is probably the most she has ever said about a gift I've given her so...YAY!

My husband has not been cooperating. He has been around way too much so I'm STILL trying to get his gift finished.I think I'm gonna have to lock him up again.

Well- I decided to take a break and sew myself a tote bag- the one from an old issue of living crafts. It will match my Amy Butler weekender-I just have to line it and make handles. Super cute.

And I have one of DS1 bella mittens done. Those are so incredibly fast! DD can't figure out why I am making DS1 some first. No reason other than someone has to be first I guess. THey are going to fit a toddler- which is perfect for us- but I highly recommend this pattern!

All this talk of fingerless gloves/wristwarmers put me in the mood to try to crochet some. Got some cute wool yarn and am well on my way. So far so good. I am making myself count my stitches and be diligent about it, so that seems to be working.

I'm happy to be doing something for myself. I've enjoyed my slippers and my decorations I've made this year. So actually I've ended up making several things for myself for the first time ever. Don't know how I fit that in to everything else I've made, but I'm happy about it.

You will enjoy your bag Iowaorganic. Good for you making something for YOU! Would love to see it when its done.

In fact, I need more FO's please!

So I added up all the stuff I made, and guessed what prices I would have paid on Etsy. Not including shipping, if I had bought the stuff I'm giving, I would have spent approximately $235. What I actually spent, in materials and stuff, is more like $20. Of course, I already had some of the stuff I'm using, so it should be more than that, but I figure since I already had the stuff it's as good as free.

Of course, this is just for extended family, and doesn't include what I've made for my kids.

I hadn't thought about shipping.

That is awesome, PeneopeJune!

We had out family Yule celebration yesterday and we all gave handmade gifts. My kids loved the things I knit for them. And I loved all teh sculptures and jewelry and stories I received. It was really meaningful.
