Pockets in pail with prefolds?

I use prefolds almost exclusively. However, I do own several pocket diapers (6 BumGenius and a few other random kinds I got in a sampler pack when I was pregnant). I haven't had much luck with the BumGenius diapers on my LO...we always seem to have pee leaking out the waistband b/c I can't get a good fit around his stomach. However, I think as he grows they might fit him better and we may eventually start using them more. One reason I hardly ever use the pockets is that it's a pain to store the dirty ones separate from my regular diaper pail that has the prefolds in it. So here's my question:

Can I mix the dirty prefolds and the dirty pocket diapers in the pail? It seems like if I pitch a dirty BumGenius diaper into the pail full of dirty prefolds, poo will get on the outside of the BG diaper. Is that ok? Will it stain? Can I wash both types together?

I use prefolds, bumgenius pockets, and fuzzibunz pockets. I pitch everything (prefolds, covers, pockets, inserts, wipes) in one diaper pail. Yes, poop gets on the covers and outside of the pockets, but it all comes out in the wash. I've never had a stain on the outside, and even the inside stains come out with a few minutes of sunlight.

For a while, I used both pockets and prefolds (fell for prefolds and sold the pockets...). I would put both types of wet/soiled dipes in the pail and wash everything together...no problems with staining.

Yes, you can store and wash them all together, no problems.

We use a mix of pretty much everything, but mostly prefolds and they all get washed together.

Thanks! Good to know. Part of the reason I rarely tried the pocket diapers was that I didn't want to have one or two oddball diapers to wash separately. This makes it easier to mix and match without having to commit to a whole day of pockets to make a load of wash.

i wash them all together with no issues, except white fuzzies on any dipe i have with black fleece.

Everything together is fine! The poo should wash right off if it gets on the outside. I love having a variety of dipes to use, and we just store, wash and dry them all together.
