Weight Loss and BF

I didn't lose a single, solitary pound when BF DS who nursed around the clock as a wee one. An EBF baby who loooooved mama's milk. Just weaned 2 weeks after his 3rd birthday, with a little nudge from me.

It did keep me from gaining as fast though .

Anybody have a completely different experience with your next PG? Didn't lose lbs BF with 1st but the weight melted off BF with 2nd? Deciding whether or not to get my hopes up .

I'm afraid for me it got harder after my first. With my first I was back in size 6 jeans 6 weeks after he was born, but with the next two.... not so much! My boy now is a bf addict, but I cannot seem to shift this excess weight. I'm a little afraid to STOP breastfeeding... I'll probably start packing on more pounds

For me, bfing helped me lose about 8 pounds or so in the first few weeks after birth, but nothing after that. Even with tandem nursing, it still didn't come off. I guess I'm just not one of those who it works for :

Meanwhile I have a friend who had to eat eat eat to keep from getting too skinny while bfing.

My personal experince is wierd. I put on 20lbs with 1st pg, lost weight immediately after the birth, then gained about 30 lbs whilst bf??
Then with my 2nd pg, I gained about 30 lb, then did not loose any at all whilst bf, and am still at the same weight, minus 7 lbs 4 years later!!
Bizarre, and depressing for me! I am a skinny person in a large body

Brightskye, I am a Brit, from London area, living in RI now!!

Well, I'm kind of the opposite, BUT...I didn't lose nearly as much or as quickly after my 2nd baby (it peeled off with the first), not sure if tandem nursing had anything to do with it? So I really had a struggle with weight this last year, and I never have in my life before this, so it was rough. I'm actually going to try and gain LESS during the pregnancy this time...I have gained 42lbs each time no matter what I try, but I'm FAR from convinced that it's the amount my body "needs" during pregnancy.

I don't have my second baby yet but my daughter is 11 months old and I'm working off the pounds with exercise and eating well. BFing did NOT help me lose weight. In fact, I have been hungrier than before having her which leads to eating all the time. I HATE when I hear people say "Oh, the pounds just fell off because of breastfeeding!". Good for them, but it's not like that for everyone. at my 6 week pp check up I had only lost 13 lbs and 8 of those were baby! LOL

I swear that I could NOT lose ANY weight while BFing.. at least not in the early days of constant nursing... I would love it if things were different this time around... but we'll just see.
