my 4 1/2 year-old still frequently pees at night, esp if I forget to take him to pee before I go to bed (he'll sleepwalk to the bathroom if I hold his hand, its pretty funny-- and he was out of daytime diapers by about 21 mos).

So, wow, a baby who wakes up dry, that sounds GREAT to me!

I've never heard of it!! Sounds close by to Morristown though.

Kim - I am living in South Jersey right now, but have a lot of family in North Jersey - though not as far north as you!!!!

I just put Cooper to sleep in his crib - we'll see how long that lasts! I am not ready to have him sleep there every night by any means as he is still up to nurse a ton, but I figured I'd see how long he stays in it for now!

And he's up already - !

I startled Cooper the other day and he jumped and started wailing - I forget exactly what startled him though. He definitely startles easily poor lil guy!

Oh Cooper's cousin Madeline was born last week : :!!!! She was 8 lbs 8ozs and 21 inches at birth and Cooper was 8 lbs 10 ozs and 21 inches. Too funny. She is my husband's brother's daughter - it must be something in their genes .

You want to startle... go stand next to a cruise ship as it leaves port.

Zack found that particularly interesting. The look on his face was priceless, and I didn't capture it.
The best way I can describe it is: "What in the HECK is THAT?!"
No crying, but he sure was interrupted! Very funny. Had to be there. Bleh.

Layed Miss K on the bathroom rug while I washed my hair in the shower this morning. do that every day, get her nakey and lay her there until I bring her in with me...she almost always pees, no biggie...she EXPLOSIVE pooped today. The diaper flew out from under her and poop was on her hands and the rug and her legs and the shower and...lol

That's too much!! I just started bringing Cooper in the shower with me. I couldn't figure out how to bring him in and wash myself/hair at the same time, but was very intrigued that some of you showered with your babies. Anyway, the first time DH, Cooper and I all showered together and Cooper seemed to like it! Today I got in his diaper and in the bouncy seat as I was just going to have him sit there while I showered until I realized he still needed a bath. Anyway (I'm rambling sorry) next time I'll just lay him on his diaper on a mat - good idea Erin! I don't think I'll do it every day but it is pretty convenient! Those of you who shower with you LO's do you just lay them outside the shower until you are ready as well?

i take a bath with him in the evenibg and hand off to dh to dry/dress him
post #48 of 89
Usually she will lie on the mat until I am ready (I shower very fast) If not, I grab her and lie her on a bath sponge in the shower with me, I just face the water away from her. She likes it better because she can see me....

oh, miss K went to get her shots yesterday (delayed schedule) and we sat there for an hour to be told they only had one of the ones I wanted her to get. BLAH. I hope I don't have to sit there for an hour again...

Anyway the point is she only weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces yesterday...she weighed 9 pounds 1 ounce at the ER 9 days before that, but she had had about 15 ounces of pedialyte that morning, but she had also just nursed yesterday...I can't decide if I am being a worrywart about it or not, but I am thinking of calling her doctor?? We get shots at the clinic....

I know it's only 3 ounces, but if you're at all worried you should take her in. Especially if she's been ill. Better safe than sorry, and she's such a little peanut.

Our ped has us call a week ahead of time to make sure the vax brands we want are available, since we're picky.

Good idea about laying her in the shower with you, might try that one...

I agree to call if you feel like you should goodmamma. Kate-do you have to pay extra for picking specific brands or doing the indiviudal shots instead of the 3 all in one? I had never thought of this and whether insurn companies/doc offices allowed that at reg price.

I know we've talked about this before...but those who are doing delayed/selective vaxes where are you getting your info from or did you make up your own schedule? I still havn't decided what I'm doing....

Three ounces can be a big pee, a poop, part of a feed, and/or a difference in scale calibration (also clothes/diaper if she wasn't weighed naked both times). As long as she is feeding well and having normal pees/poops now, I wouldn't personally worry. But I might weigh her again in a week or two to make sure that she's gaining overall (and for your own reassurance). JMHO...

I have extra Peony admiration today, since I took the girls to the swimming pool. I had my sister there to help, but don't think I could have done it alone. Nora loved the water, and stayed in until she was purple and shivering and I'm sure would have stayed longer if I let her. She was also a big hit with everyone there and was a big flirty smiler the whole time.

I ordered an amber teething necklace on Etsy last week, and am impatiently waiting for it to arrive. I was bitten for the first time today- she's gummed me before, but this was the first time I felt both of her new sharp teeth

Fingers crossed mamas!!!

Sophia is an add-on for surgery tomorrow to place the feeding tube. If all goes well, she should be home in a week!!!!
Im delirious with excitement but Im trying to keep it under control, I dont want to get my hopes up, we know how that plays out.

Im not trying to depress anyone, just vent a little here...

Im pretty much at the end of my rope with her being in the NICU. Today was the first day I actually asked the doc to take her home. A nurse in the other room said to me later "Lindsay, you know better." and I do. The social worker came in and said "I heard you told the docs you want to leave. Youre finally to that point, huh? Means youre just about to leave!" I guess a lot of parents are like me. When the kid is doing better, you just want OUT. Medically, she is fine so I just sit with her and play all day, waiting. UGH:

We set up her crib yesterday and I cried for a long time, its hard to have baby stuff but no baby. Then I went to see her and the 2 other people in her room brought in the carseats to take their babes home and I literally exploded in tears!! I know her time is coming but Im so tightly wound right now, I cant keep my emotions under control!

Now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, Im SCARED of bringing her home. The g-tube is a BIG responsibility and she is on 14 different meds. (that are to be taken at different times throughout the day) DH said that either way we get her (meds or no) its a huge responsibility and scary. Good thing Ive been getting a lot of sleep cause its going to be rough for a while! The nurses have been teaching me and quizzing me and making me do all the work so Im really prepared to take her home. I even helped draw blood the other day!

benny - YAY!!! Cant wait to see some babies/ocean pics!

nancy - I love shocking babies!!! It will be so funny when these babies are laughing so when we shock them we get that great laugh!!!

NAK -
I just finished reading this thread. What a challenged group of Mamas we are!!! AND how strong we are for rising to our respective challenges! We love our babies!!! We can overcome our obstacles and enjoy our families ...

HUGS all around!
And here I'm going to be long-winded...
My move has been difficult. I have missed Maine and my six sisters, neices & nephews, friends, etc. for ten years now but have established a strong bond with friends I've made in NC. There were tears. One friend in particular almost tore my heart out with the pain in her face as we said good-bye. My husband became depressed over the past few weeks and could not find the energy to help me pack/clean/organize... He broke down in tears several times over so many things - from thoughtless words his father wrote to thinking of strangers living in the house he built where India was born...

I left NC last Tuesday, driving with my sister who flew down for the trip. It took us three days with all the stops for the baby & older girls. I thought of other members of my DDC as we passed through different east coast states & PA. We took a detour in Hershey, PA: exit 77. It was an early birthday present for me - I've always wanted to stop there but have never had time. My birthday is 7/7 and I LOVE chocolate.

My DP just left seven hours ago with the moving truck. Our house still is not prepared for renters. After the summer, we may be paying our whole mortgage in addition to rent here ... I'm trying not to think of all that. I've been staying with my mother-in-law. My goal this summer is to find a way to supplement my husband's income while staying home with our girls. I'll be keeping my neice and nephew over the weekends while my sister works. I will start a sewing project that may lead to earning money... I have been working on updating my shopper profiles for the mystery shopping companies I used to shop for a few years ago. We'll see what is available around these less populated parts ...
My husband has four jobs to last us through summer and hopefully will drum up more work before it comes to an end. Maybe we'll find someone who wants to trade rent for remodeling projects/repairs ...

India: SHe is such a wonderful baby! She is full of cheeks and chins and fabulous rolls. I am blessed with another content, smiley girl. She sleeps from around 11:30 (just finished nursing her...) until 5AM!!! She nurses, I change her diaper, and she sleeps another 2-3 hours. I hope she stays healthy ...

Big sisters: Aurelia (3yr-old) is getting over what I suspect is croup right now. SHe is whiny and is asking to nurse throughout the day and night. She has been coughing a little at night, but it isn't nearly as severe as last year when both girls had croup for several weeks ... SHe has been having potty accidents regulary for the past month - since we've moved, she has had several pee accidents daily.
Zeta (5) is not sick at all, but has been having pee accidents at night. She won't wear her night-time pull-up anymore. She says it is "itchy." Luckily, she's sleeping on a waterproof mattress. I've been washing the sheets almost daily.

Both of my older girls are fighting bedtime. They have a vacation mentality and just want to visit with their grandparents late into the night. Today we had a play date, though, and they were both sleeping by 10.
I am going to call my DP to make sure he isn't driving if he is too tired.

Oh Lindsay, good luck! I can see how this is both exciting and scary. You will be an amazing caretaker when your girl can come home.

and BennyPai, moving is hard, siblings adjusting to a new baby is hard, and job uncertainty is hard... I'm looking forward to and also dreading when we move from here, which we might do in about 1 year for a bunch of reasons...

EC is going good. Its kind of crazy! She is peeing in a diaper most of the time, but I am "catching" several pees a day, and she really does seem to "try" to go when I give her the opportunity. Doesn't always work out as a good communication, I think (I try to take her often JUST before she's ready... like I anticipate her need a little too much). Anyway, DH isn't crazy about it, oh well.

Taking her to a meeting tomorrow to set up my research internship... will do the remaining 3 weeks of July, and then another month in sept when I get back (going to visit my parents for most of August).

Sure you may know better, but this is your baby and you want her home...what mom wouldn't ask???!

I know her time is coming but Im so tightly wound right now, I cant keep my emotions under control!LIndsay you've done remarkably well, I'm such an emotional person I know I would not have been as strong! Let those emotions go somedays...

Now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, Im SCARED of bringing her home.
Of course your scared....it will be an adjustment, but I know you'll be GREAT! And it will be so much eaiser and better not making all those trips to the hospital and having on your mind constantly how/what she's doing when your not around. You'll have her in your arms soon mama and you'll be GREAT! She's a lucky little babe to have you as a mama!::::: :

I want to know about that knecklace too! And I'll have to talk with my doc at our 3 mo appointment more specifically about vaxes...Kate if you don't mind sharing what brands are you picking and why and where you found the info, guess I never thought about the brand of vax? YOu can PM me if you wish.

Good for you...DH would not be on board for it either...

BennyPai: I'm glad you got moved...leaving friends is so hard! I moved ALOT when I was young, I'm determined to keep my children in the same house they grew up in unless we get a chance to get out in the country! Hope things get settled soon Wanted to add that I adjusted fine to all that moving, made me a more social person...

N is still sleepin next to me. P got up an hour ago. I hate that I let her watch TV but this is only temporary...I'm really looking forward to Sept when we start the homeschool co-op as well as probably sending P to afternoon preschool 3 days a week at our church. Then I plan to fully HS kindergarten. Anyway, I was so glad we got out in the good weather yesterday as it's really icky the rest of the week :

I got an hour at the Aveda salon yesterdy By MYSELF! I intended on taking N but she was nursed and sleeping when DH came home so I thought since she screams in the car for her sake maybe this would be better...laid he in the bassinet and ran out of the house! She slept for 30 min then woke happy and was sittin on DH lap when I got home...it was nice to get out on my own. I drove DH truck (which I LOVE), turned up the country music and rolled down the windows...alll things I don't get to do with the kiddos! It's nice to feel like "me" once in a while. I don't think DH really understands what I give up for our children. Oh and got my hair SHORT! I can't stand it in my face when leaning over trying to talk to my baby!

Oh and going to my first API meeting tonight. I've got to get some IRL friends who are in the natural mindset! They are talking about nighttimeparenting!

Ear Infection.... and antibiotics.....

UGH

Well.... at least our Ped suggested probiotics mixed in a bit of breast milk to keep his insides balanced from the antibiotics. Also some garlic ear oil to help soothe Parker's ears.

Little dude is in great spirits, which has helped tremendously to lift mine as I recover from the job loss. Hey.... I have my family's health (aside form the ear infection lol), support and love. What else do I need? Nothing. I am lucky for sure.

Linsday.... your honestly has always been intriguing. You can do it! and I think it's healthy to be afraid.... you're going to do awesome!

amberbabies.com have great necklaces!

Dr.Sears has great info about brands of VACCINES and the contents so you can decide which is best for your LO. My ped has a delayed schedule already set up... and lists the vaccines they use which are all chosen because the have the least aluminum and other harmful additives. It allowed me to do all my research upfront and then sit back with confidence knowing our Ped is doing the right thing for us.

Benny.... so sorry to hear about the sad/tough times... you'll make it through!
