To Sell Site/Blog/Forum or Not?

I created a site with a blog and forum over a year ago with the intention of devoting myself to it fully and making it a source of income. Unfortunetly, I ran into health problems and have since been through multiple surgeries and recovery periods that I have not been able to give it even a fraction of what I would with health.

The topic is frugality... I paid for site/forum design. I've invested a lot of time and money into it.

The reality is that I the right own could make it a steady source of extra cash....but it can't be me.

I have to decide if I want to just close it down and take the investment loss or if I want to sell and try to recoup some of the investment while keeping the site alive. If I were to sell...I don't know the slightest about how/where to go about it, you know?

Anyone been in a similar place and have words of wisdom to offer?

Typically, sites that sell well are those that already have a good source of traffic and are generating an income. You may find you have a hard time selling a site that doesn't have either.

At this point, you have a few options:

1. Dive back in and make a go of the site. I understand this may not be a possibility with your health issues. But if it is, then this might be the fastest way to start earning an income from the site.

2. If you can spare some extra dollars, you may try hiring writers to generate content. A less expensive options is PLR (Private Label Rights) articles that you can use to generate content on your site. Nothing is worse on a forum than no content. Even if someone is interested in the topic, they'll back right out of the ghost town.

3. Find someone you can partner with, who can pick up the slack when you're sick. You'd both share in any business decisions and profits.

3. Offer your site for sale at a fraction of your investment. Not sure if there is a forum here where you can do that, but I know there are other sites where you can sell websites.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your response!

I should be a little more clear, I think.

The main site does have content, though the content is not updated as much as it should be. The forum is full of content and also has daily member and guests visits. 99% of the time myself or one of members does update the site with the latest freebies or coupon codes or what have you. I have a handful of loyal members, but after a year I should have more and I attribute the fact that I dont to my absense due to health sturggles.

I do get google earnings but they are very slow. I've sold a couple ad spaces, but that is also very slow. All of this could be so much more successful if someone with more time could take over. I just don't know how to go about finding that person or how much to ask of them for the purchase.

Could you PM me the sites where websites can be sold? I'd like to cater to Parents/WAHM/SAHM/Bloggers as potential buyers...or maybe thats too much for me to ask.

Aye!

What did you decide to do about this?

Thank you for checking in! Threads missing updates drive me nutty, and here I am hosting threads of my own w/out updates.

I went into the hospital for a second surgery in 3 months and found myself mentally overflowing... I closed the site. I did save all my original work to documents for future use. I was so passionate about the venture...but had I known what life was about to send my way...I would never have taken it on.
I learned a lot, though... and hopefully those lessons will make my next creation that much more succesful.
