Finally back in cloth...but...

after ONE day, DS bum looks a tiny bit bumpy. Sigh. He's 9 weeks. Has been in sposies for 7 weeks b/c of a yeast rash. It's been gone about two weeks, cream has been stopped for almost a week and we went back to cloth yesterday. Did I go back too soon? The red dots of yeast rash aren't there, just little bumps of irritation. I started using fleece liners halfway through the day yesterday. He slept 7 hours last night so I'm not sure if that is the culprit but it looked a TINY bit irritated before that.

We use diaper service diapers. Should I try my own? I do NOT want to do laundry here (apt. shared machines, no rinse options, occasional rust stains on other laundry) and am afraid I can only use sposies I was so happy to start using cloth again yesterday.

My DS took about three days to get "used" to CD again. He looked a bit red, not rashy, for a few days and it went away. Now he gets red when I put him in a sposie.

I would give it a few days, and see how it goes. Hopefully it'll get better and you won't have to worry about anything!

Could you put him in a sposie at night for a while to give his skin a break? I was never able to break away fully from sposies because night-time diapering would always give DD a rash.

I would never admit anywhere but here though, where most are converts, that sposies caused LESS rashes for my DD, regardless of CD system...

I thought of doing that (sposies at night) since I never know in advance when he will sleep 7 hours or 3 and thus sit in it a lot longer.

I've been changing his dipe a lot today and it's worse. I'm afraid to let it go...but I will consider giving it a few days to adjust. Just a few minutes ago I put him in a sposie before reading responses.

are you letting him air dry for long periods when you change him? also, thefleece liners gave my lo a rash.

I use a hair dryer on cool to dry his skin between changes.

Interesting about the fleece.

Nakey butt time would probably be really helpful - what I always did was combine it with tummy time, since little ones that age should be getting plenty of tummy time anyway. I would put a towel, waterproof lap pad or whatever, and a diaper under him so he didn't pee on my carpet, and and leave him there as long as he would tolerate, maybe 15 mintues at a time, a few times a day. (my LO hated it).

I'll be giving this new one more tummy time at an earlier age to try to get him used to it. So...more airing out time!

As far as the rash, just play around with it. Could be he's sensitive to whatever detergent they are using. Could be the wetness bothers him (in which case the fleece could be helpful). Could be the fleece bothers him, in which case you only want natural fibers next to the skin!

It's a toughy, for sure, but don't feel bad about using sposies if you need to. Your real goal is for your little guy to be healthy, so you gotta do what you gotta do to achieve that, kwim?

But I sure hope it clears up for you!
