fuzzi bunz wash routine

I would love to hear about your successful wash routine!

We use fuzzi bunz and have had stink problems (stubborn urine/ammonia smells). I stripped with dawn method a few weeks ago and that seemed to work great....for a few days. So I'm doing it again today and would like to know what to do next to keep them smelling clean.

We do a cold rinse w/ 1/2 cup of vinegar, a hot wash with 2 tbsp Country Save and calgon water softener, then 1 or 2 hot washes with nothing. I found the real key to keeping them stink free is enough hot rinses AND I bleach the microfiber inserts once a month, those things hold onto stink like no other.

Here's my simple wash routine, and we've had minimal problems. Rinse all diapers with the diaper sprayer after changing (dirty or urine). Store in a diaper pail w/ liner and wash every other day. Wash in cold with a little bit of detergent. Rinse in hot (once a month or so I'll add some Dawn). I then hang them to dry. If it's sunny I'll put them outside, if not I'll just hang them in the basement. Then it's a few minutes in the dryer for softening.

chely7425, I was thinking about bleaching the inserts but we never use chemicals so I was putting it off...how much bleach do you use? Just add it to the wash cycle?

Gabes Mommy...I wonder if spraying the pee diapers is saving you from the smell. I might be too lazy but I'll try it if I get desperate.

I put a cup of bleach in the most water my washer can do, with all my MF inserts. I tried rinsing the pee diapers and it didn't seem to matter... I think our hard water and the MF is just not a good combo!! MF seems to hold on to stinkies like no other...
