bacterial diarreah

Thread Starter
DD has had diarreah for a week now. Every diaper is poopy. We switched to sposies last week so we could use diaper rash cream. I have some liners now for my cloth so I can use cream with them. I would like to star using them ASAP. But here's my issue...what if the diarreah is caused by bacteria? The Doctor sent a stool sample to get tested yesterday but we won't know until the end of the week. So if it is bacterial, then should a couple of hot washes and sunning kill it? Should I put a little bleach in the wash too? I just don't want it to linger in the diapers and attack DD again.

Thanks for asking, I'll be : I was just about to post the same question re: DD. She has her first diaper rash from dirrehea and I've been using liners for cream or g diapers. I've just been washing her cloth stash on hot and sunning...I've never bleached as we have only organic diapers and I didn't want to add bleach to them, but I am also concerned about bacteria. Yuck, no fun. I'll stay tuned to this thread!

If it does turn out to be bacterial I would probably add a little bleach or boil them just to make sure nothing yucky is still hanging around in your diapers. I figure it is better to be safe than to have a repeat!!

Tea Tree Oil is antibacterial and can be added to the wash, as well as diluted and used on wipes. For wipes solution I would only use about 1 drop to 1 cup of water, any more than that and it can burn the skin!

If it is bacterial and you use CD, make sure to be vigilant in cleaning them. Use hot hot water or boil them, and a good stripping with Dawn or some TTO always helps. I would also try to dry them in the sun. You'd hate to have it come back!
