yikes!
my 3yo dd kicked me as she was jumping into the pool (I was catching) - right in the tummy! I am hoping that all is OK.... Knowing baby's position, he caught a foot right in the rear end/leg..... It kinda hurt for a second, but was about a half an hour ago and nothing else unusual is happening.... I'm guessing he is fine?? What can happen? Aside from going into labor (oh, gee that wouldnt be so bad lol)

If it was just the one kick and you're not feeling ill or bleeding from it, everything's probably fine. Better baby was kicked in the bum than in the head. The amniotic fluid keeps baby pretty cushy in your belly.

I don't know much about this, but couldn't a hard punch potentially "dislodge" the placenta from the wall the uterus? (placenta abruption)
When I fell on my belly at 28 weeks with baby 4, they told me to come in and get an ultrasound and be under observation for a couple of hours.
If it were me who had a toddler kick my 9mo belly, I would give the doctor a call...

That was my worst thought as well, which placental abruption can be deadly to both mama and baby from what I know... ugh.... I'm going to give it a little bit, if I feel weird at all, (wierder than I have been lol) or if I can't get him to move by poking at him, Im calling the MW.... I hate to bug her on call, and then it be nothing... (and dh at work late....)

Honestly, they are so protected in there...muscle, fat, fluid etc. My DS came down a HUGE slide and caught me right in the belly. He's 30lbs and I actually stumbled back, it hurt. Baby was fine. I'd check with my midwife if you are uncertain though, better to get peace of mind....hope all is well

well, its been an hour, ish, and no fluid/blood anything- he's still moving fine, I feel no different- still BH contracting away LOL and that is all... I think I might call the MW in the a.m. but I think I'm OK..... I hope...

I got rear ended in a mild car accident when I was 32 weeks. I didn't go to L and D to get checked out until the next day. I felt fine. I was told if you do experience a placental abruption from an impact, that it happens very quickly and you will start bleeding pretty fast. Otherwise, all they will do is strap you to a fetal monitor for 4 hours (ugh!). I probably wouldn't worry too much as long as you aren't experiencing any cramping or bleeding. Feel better!

The only thing I would worry about is if you are RHnegative. If you are, you may need a shot of Rhogam just in case any blood was passed between you and the babe. If you are RHpositive you shouldn't have to worry.
