Closing a bank account

I need to close a bank of america account and I'm not sure exactly how to go about it. The website says to submit the request in writing and to have all owners sign. What exactly does my request need to say? And what information (personal identifying info, account #'s etc) needs to be included? Thanks!

If you have a branch nearby its much easier to do it that way
Also if you keep the balance at zero for 6 mos they will automatically close it for you.

I don't have access to a branch right now and I can't keep my balances at zero because they charge a fee for the savings account if it goes under $300

Or can I? Do they charge the fee if your account is at zero?

I think that's it. Name, account #, close account. BofA does have online chat, so you could ask them directly on the website.

I closed a BOA account a couple weeks ago. I just called them.

I was able to close my savings acct with them over the phone. At first, they told me to go into a branch to close it. I live in OH and there are no branches and told them that. Then they said to get all the money out from an ATM and then call them. Well, I couldn't do that b/c the acct only had $4.26 in it and how could I get that from the ATM. At that point, they closed it over the phone.
