hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

I have one scheduled for Thursday and I'm scared. I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information about them from "worse pain I've ever experienced" to "didn't feel a thing." Will it hurt? Will I be able to go about my activities after? Will I be leaking dye for days? What about sex after? Help!

I don't think anyone can tell you how YOU will feel...as you have seen, for some women it is very painful, for some it doesn't hurt at all. I had one done in May and other than a pinch from the clamp they used I literally felt nothing from the actual HSG. I wouldn't have know that they were injecting the dye except that I could see it on the x-ray screen. It was over and done in a moment. I had no cramping afterwards and only needed to wear a small pad for part of a day for the "leaking".
I hope yours goes well today with no pain!

I had myself very worked up about it in advance, try to relax. I took ibuprofin in advance per the md and I practiced relaxing breathing during it. I really have had more painful paps, seriously. It was nothing. It was also cool to watch. So there is no reason to think it will definitely be painful, it may not be at all.

I leaked that day but nothing after.
