sling making mamas- BEST fabrics for pouch style carrier?

I know the hotsling, peanut shell, etc have a stretch sateen version- was wondering, aside from fleece for wintertime, what are the best options for a pouch? Is stretch poplin too stretchy?

I like interock jersey because you can just sew the bottom curve seam and leave the side raw edges raw!

Strech poplin should be fine as long as you make sure that you have the stretch going *across* the pouch. That goes for any fabric with any stretch in it.

I like the upholstery weight cotton fabrics and keep finding nice patterns on the sale table

I really like linen for my slings, although I think using a double layer of cotton works well, too. I don't feel comfortable using a single layer because it just doesn't seem strong enough to me. Also, make sure you use a french seam for added strength.
