Tracking down an old account

When XH and I separated I thought he closed our bank account. It was the on thing he had to do. I let him keep all the money in the account because I was trying to get him out of my life faster by being financially generous.

He was supposed to close the account and transfer all of the money into one solely in his name.

I've come to think he may never have done it and my name is still on the account. I don't think I know the account number anymore. Is there any way to find out if the account is still there without contacting XH?

I don't want any money. I just want everything done correctly.

hmm . . . maybe you can run a chexsystems report? Usually it's for negative banking history, but it might help. That's all I can think of.

call the bank the account was with. Ask them to run your name against any open accounts.

Call the bank and tell them you don't remember the account number and ask them to look it up by SS#.

Do bank accounts show up on credit reports? I can't remember anymore. Or yes, call up your old bank, explain that you're a former customer and just want to make sure things are settled as they should be.
