Purple Brussels Sprouts!

My brussels sprouts are turning purple! And worse yet, they aren't...er brusseling... I mean they aren't forming tight little sprouts. I have nothing but big purple leaves. I have had them in the ground for about 2 months and they were 6 inches when i got them. I live in Southeast Kentucky and the weather here is 85-90 degrees in the heat of the day with rain once or twice a week. Anybody know what is going on here?

According to this unfortunately they are a cooler weather crop. Maybe try again in fall?

Thanks

Thanks for the link. I think you might be right. I should maybe try again since we have a long fall season

You're welcome I'm now wondering if I could grow brussel sprouts here! Of course if I was going to try THIS year I'd have had to plant them in late may for them to have time to produce before it got hot again : But I'm going to make a note to try them out next fall : Cause I love me some brussel sprouts! :

just try planting some new brussel sprouts seedds now so that they will be mature around the first frost, the light frost in late october will give the sprouts a better taste.
