Diaper Liners

Ok, we have some Imse Vimse diaper liners that we got at DS's baby shower...fast forward 7 months are we are about to take him on his first camping trip tomorrow...we EBF and we've started some solids, so his poo is getting a little more...interesting? Very sticky at this point.

Anyways, I forgot I had these liners, but they seem like they'd be a lifesaver as far as being able to easily get rid of the poo and just have fairly clean diapers in the wetbag to take home at the end of the 3 1/2 day trip.

So, what do you all think of liners? And more importantly, how exactly do you use them with the dipes? We're pretty simple here, just prefolds (yellow edged GMD's at the moment) with snappi's and covers...obviously it can't go in until the diaper is folded, otherwise it wouldn't work, but it seems really big compared to the diaper, wider and longer by a couple of inches. I'm able to make it work, I'm just curious if there are any good methods out there...wiggly 7 month old babies are hard enough to diaper, without trying to finangle the second layer and keep him on the first one, kwim?

Thanks!

I use diaper liners with my pockets when we're out or DS has a diaper rash. I just lay them on the diaper and fold any excess in. Or leave it sticking out. It doesn't really matter. I love them because you can just lift the poo out and flush it. Imse Vimse are also nice because you can wash and reuse them if you're in a place that's possible.

I would think you could just fold the dipe, lay in the liner, and install on the baby =)

There aren't too many tricks...just lay it on the diaper before you get the kid on there. Or shove it under.

I do find diaper liners really helpful sometimes. The imse vimse ones are a little stiffer, but you can wash them if they are only wet, and re-use.

The bummis ones are softer, but dont' put them in the wash! They shred and make a mess of your velcro if you have it. But that also probably means they break down faster after getting flushed...so there are advantages and disadvantages to different brands.

I didn't give them a go until DD was almost 2 yo. By then, I had become so used to not using a liner that I felt they were more trouble than anything else. Plus, I made the mistake of tossing the Bummis liners in with the diaper wash! LOL! What's worse, is that I didn't even realize what all that mysterious fuzz was the first time around and washed them again!

But, I could see how they would be helpful when vacationing.

For vacationing, they can be fantastic! I never used them on a regular basis, but when we were travelling all day in and out of airports, they were a life saver. Super easy too! Just put them on top of the prefold between you lo and the diaper. The imse vimse ones are my fav
