Ethical question

OK I have a raspberry patch that's doing great. It's spread across the fence and in to our neighbor's yard. The canes have spread out over their woodpile and the berries are beautiful. The neighbors are gone a lot. I see the berries there and many of them are within my reach.

Query: am I allowed to pick those berries or not?

well can you just ask them if they mind? That's what I would do

If you're friendly with the neighbors and have asked about being on their property, I see no problem. Now, if they or a houseguest would pull out a shotgun at you for trespassing, I'd probably think twice.

If you're just reaching your hand over through the fence, I'd still probably ask just to be on the safe side. Stealing produce from someone's yard/garden is either a misdemeanor or felony in some states.
