should I learn to knit or crochet? - Page 2

I like to crochet for baby stuff because when I knit, baby outgrows it long before it's done. Crochet is faster.

Thanks for all the opinions. I learned to crochet the day after I posted from an internet site. For all that my MIL crochets, I haven't had time to get with her about it!

I loved that it was so easy to learn to crochet, and that the projects went so quickly. I crocheted two newborn longies which turned out great, though certainly not professional quality!

Now I'm out of yarn and must wait for some money!

I'm seriously tempted to learn to knit now because I want that soft, smooth surface for my baby's clothes!

And I wouldn't rule out spinning either. Again, thanks so much everybody!

Here is my take on it being a bicrafter as well. I learned to crochet when I was 12 years old. It is easy to do and you only have to manipulate one needle. I have been knitting for about a year and I feel that learning to crochet first helps with needle placement as well as not having to throw your yarn. since you learn how to hold your yarn in crocheting it carries over to knitting. Plus if you get Caron Simply Soft at your local craft store it will give that smooth yarn that doesn't get rough ever
