Need an "easy" carrier for dh

My dh has a sling, but it's probably too small because he struggles to get the babe (6 weeks) into it and it's not comfy. He wants something that's easy to get on and get the baby into - he's not a fan of the mei tai, for example. I love my sling and use it all the time, so I'm not much help to him. Any suggestions?

I think either a pouch his size (just slip on and put baby in) or a buckle carrier (buckle and go!).

Ergo. It'll last until the baby is 4 yo. I love mine, and can carry a baby or toddler in it all. day. long with no trouble at all. Ergo for sure.

I was going to say an Ergo or pouch. Both should be easy for him.

Ergo

I'd vote for the ergo, too. We use ours all the time, and only use the MT when the ergo is in the wash. However, 6 weeks is really very young for the ergo. We didn't start using ours until about 4-5 months.

I like our pouch, but DH has never used it, and it's a bit tricky at first (but not as bad as a ring sling). You'd need to make sure that it was the right size. I think it would suit the small-baby stage well, though we didn't get it until later.

ok anything that isn't an arm and a leg? dh uses the hotsling i got, but i think dd finally got just big enough that it won't work for him.

i would recommend a soft structured carrier like the ergo but i wouldn't use an ergo with a baby that small. no one loves the infant insert. maybe a pikkolo or a beco.

hotsling could also work depending on babe's head control.

My dh loved his ringsling but I made it longer specifically for him & I found I almost always needed to give him a hand getting it adjusted right (although I'm sure he could do it alone - just didn't feel comfortable doing so).

He really likes the ergo as well - but as others said - 6 weeks is a bit young for it.

We didn't have the ergo yet at 6 weeks...we could't justify the cost of it. At that time, our babe was nearly always in a maya ring sling or the moby wrap. Both worked great, but the moby was annoying to get on...once on it was perfect.

My dh really loves a Babyhawk especially since they have skull prints!

Buckle carrier -- Ergo or Pikkolo. Check out the Trading Post here, FSOT at www.thebabywearer.com, and Craig's List for good deals on gently used carriers. Buckle carriers appeal to a lot of dads because they're more "manly" and they're based on familiar technology.

Plus, you'll get great use out of it over the next several years. We still carry our 4.5 year old in a buckle carrier when she needs snuggles.
