we are moving from ny to chicago. do i need to have our cat "sleeping" with a pill or will she be alright emotionally with all that travel? also, what about her going to the potty during that time? thanks in advance!

It isw not recommended to sedate animals for air travel as it can be dangerous for them.

For our cats I put a towel in the bottom of the kennel to absorb anything if they did go (never actually needed) & for comfort. I didn't feed them for about 12 hours beforehand (but still offered water). I also dosed them with rescue remedy which imo worked great.

Don't give them a sedative. My cats just veg out after realizing they can't get out of the carrier and we've flown with them many times.

Some of my cats poop in the box, some don't. I've never done anything but put newspaper down. Just don't put anything into the box that it would be hard to throw in the washing machine if they do have an "accident."

thank you both very much for your experience info! lifeguard: i do have the rescue remedy from a time ago, but i was never able to get kitty to take it. in the water is not a great option as she spills most of it...how do you administer that? on their paw maybe?

I put the rescue on the paw in the hopes they'll lick it off. I also try to squirt a little in their mouths.
