ugh. lil G got his big brothers cold last night. He is all fidgety and snuffly and miserable. I'm reaaaally bummed about it. I guess with a big brother injecting germs right into his face......I can't expect him to be as healthy as ds1 was when he was an infant.

I have guests coming in this tues and ds1's birthday party wed. So I can't get sick too!

Splurging

I am a happy woman this morning!

I splurged on a German woven wrap (a storch) and it arrived today. : I don't think I will be using my stretchy wrap much anymore.

It is so comfortable already even if I have some learning to do on tying it better. But although I could do a nursing craddle carry with the stretchy wrap it wasn't nearly as comfortable and secure.

This morning I made pancakes for DD1, while DD2 was nursing in the wrap. It was truly handsfree. It is so comfortable she is now asleep and I don't really feel a need to put her down, aside that I should because I have to get dressed. I think this is gonna be my last carrier ::. ..unless I get more of those wraps!

DD2 did not have a great night, which is very rare... I think she is in a growth spurt.

I got my period already! I was definitely not looking forward to that

Penny normally sleep straight from 9pm to 5am. Last night was the exception. She woke up at 2am for some reason. She has been feeding like crazy during daytime too so I am wondering if it is a growth spurt or if my period has affected my supply temporarily. Only time will tell. (and if it was indeed my period)

Vax: we did "normal" vax schedule for dd1, mostly, just delayed a couple months and skipped the chicken pox. She is also never sick which I attributed to good genes and nursing.

Not too sure yet for dd2. But I am not ready to get her started at 2 months. Will wait a little more.

We finally got our answer DD2 is lactose intolerant!!!!! Which means it's a pretty safe bet DD3 is too! We're still waiting on the other fecal tests to come back, two for parasites, one for bacteria, and another for more allergy related white cells. We're beginning to think Milk isn't her only allergy, but going through the long process of elimination will be so much easier knowing now that we were right about milk!!!

At least you know now. Much nicer than guessing.

We took DD swimming this weekend. She was a little uncertain at first but then seemed to enjoy it. (She is one to let us know adamantly if she doesn't enjoy something, so if she's not somewhere on the continuum of fussing to screaming, I figure she must be happy.)

Speaking of which, today has been interesting. I decided to try to help her learn to take naps in her crib that last long enough that she's rested when she wakes up. So we swaddled and I did lots of back patting and so forth and she fell asleep for nap #1 and slept for 2 hours. Yay! Nap #2 we did the same, but she woke up cranky and obviously still tired after 45 minutes. We did the back patting routine for at least half an hour and she kept drifting off and waking up immediately. So I gave up. I managed to avoid her usual fussiness before sleeping for those naps though. Then came nap #3. She was fussy. I tried putting her down and soothing as before. Fussy rapidly turned to crying. So I picked her up. And she cried for a while and fell asleep. I put her down. After about 10 minutes, she woke up, and fussy once again turned to crying. So I picked her up. And she screamed for a while, then conked out and slept on me for at least an hour. She woke up to eat -- or so I thought. I prepared to feed her. She took one look at her meal-to-be and started screaming. And screaming. And screaming. I've had her do this every now and then if I try to feed her and she's not hungry, but it had been three hours--I've never had her refuse to eat if it's been three hours. She calmed down pretty quickly though when I stopped trying to get her to eat and now she's sleeping again. Hmmm. To wake her up and try again? Methinks today was not a good day to try crib naps

Hi mamas! Things are going well here too. We're into cloth diapers and that's going fine. I need to get some more covers, she's nearly grown out of the extra smalls. Settled into the new house, finally! Breastfeeding couldn't be going better. I've got the side-lying position down, and Olivia loves to cuddle up that way anyhow. Getting smiles and coos, and just loving motherhood!

And I've lost 30 lbs at 6 weeks post partum, yay!

Glad you were able to get answers!

My kids aren't vaxed. I think we might get some for the older two, but none for Addie yet.

It is weird because my oldest woke often and I got my period at 5 months. My middle kid slept at least 6 hours at night and I got my period at 16 months. Addie sleeps at least 6 hours at night. I better not get my period soon.

My son got his first tooth at 2.5 months. Addie's two teeth are really close to erupting.

Hi everyone! I haven't been around much. Glad so many of you have babies that sleep so well and are content! Ezra is like that too. It's 10:30 and he's not up yet, and he ate at 5 after going down at 11. He's almost 11 weeks. He's really not a fussy baby at all, if he fusses, there's a reason. No period yet but we use condoms.

We're not vaxing either so his 2 mo appt last week was very pleasant .

Last night, I was standing Ezra up on my lap which he LOVES, and then lifting him above my head. He'll stick his legs out and hold his head up and smile down at me (and drool), so funny. So when I brought him down to stand on me, he made a little grunt like he wanted to go back up. So I lifted him up. When I set him down, he did it again! lol. He kept grunting each time I brought him down, like 10 times and I'd crack up laughing.

Seattle is up in the air still with a job for DH. We're in limbo as I gave notice at work and he's looking for part time work. We have some savings. We're taking two trips to see family that will cost a few hundred dollars together, but we believe won't be too long before he has a pastor job and it's worthwhile using the free time with no vacation time restraints. Money shouldn't be the whole focus. One of those trips is a 14 hour drive to KS!! We're doing it in two days on the way out...not sure how E will do. The car is where we get his worst crying fits at times. I plan to buy a picture thing for the seat for him to stare at.

April, sorry to hear about G's cold! And a tooth! Wow.
OceansEve, glad you got some answers on dairy.
Quate - when she screamed at breast after feeding some, when E does that, he happens to love just laying on the floor with his toy thing. He's not cranky even though he didn't sleep long. I'd say keep trying the crib since it's worked well sometimes. I'm like, ok ok! I get it! You don't want any...and put the breast away lol.
Katie - September will be here before you know it...I'm so happy for you that DH gets to come home for a bit.
CanBoo - very cool about your new sling!
Auraji - I took a bath with E last week and he seemed really happy. I tried it a few weeks before that with no luck so I'm glad it worked. He's liking his baths a lot more in general.
jpi - our XS small covers are too small here, too. We could use them in a jam, but smalls are a better fit. I'm loving thirsties most of the three I have (thirsties, bummis, mother-ease) but they all perform GREAT.
trauerweidchen - insidevaccines.com has some excellent info on the diseases that are vaccinated. Very informative and understandable.
Amydoula - kicking legs is so fun and cute! E sometimes goes wild when he gets his diaper changed. It's hilarious. That's some of the best fun time with him when we change him and air him out, he's happy as a clam.
jeli - so sorry for your friend. That happened to my mom with a baby after me.

E's rash is gone so we've been in cloth for over a week. : It looks like it was coming back a little so I've been using some cream while still doing CD. The diaper service won't come to us anymore, so I've taken up using our own and will do my first wash load today or tomorrow. We're in shared laundry with our apt, so I have no wash/rinse options besides hot, warm or cold. I though I"d have to pay for two cycles, but I'll try one starting out to see how well it washes. He only poops every 5th dipe, probably.

? We're thinking of taking him to the pool...since we can't use sunscreen, how do we protect him from the sun besides a hat?

We get lots of smiles and coos, it's wonderful. I love being a mother. I think Ezra is so freaking cute, I can't get enough. Check out this pic

? How long are your babies awake these days? Sometimes E's awake a couple of hours, and sometimes between two feedings, but usually, he's showing tired signs an hour after getting up from a nap. He goes down great for naps, partly because I've learned when he's tired and get him at the right time.

: My pocket diapers fit on DS now! I like the prefolds and covers but the pocket diapers are easier for MIL (who, for some reason, put the cover on inside out last time she used the prefolds?).

DS is up for about 1.5 hours between sleeps during the day. He is up for one stretch in the morning, then a nap(3-4hrs), then 1.5 hours in the late afternoon, then a short nap (like an hour), then up and down all evening nursing like a fiend when awake and fussing to sleep, then around 11pm he drops off with one last nursing until ~6am then wakes every 1.5-2hrs until he's ready to start over again (usually around 10am). He's getting to be more predictable, that's for sure! And it's nice that he starting to be awake more, he's been such a sleepy baby.

Sometimes Anna is awake all day (like only takes 4-5 15 minute cat naps) and other days she sleeps all day.

That pic is awesome!! I need to start taking more pics.

My period came back at 2 months w/ DD1, 4 months w/ DD2 so I think I should be expecting it around 6 months I Hope, longer would be great.

if anyone has seen my good sleeper, can you send him back? Blah. The last several nights he's been waking more, or waking halfway up and just squirming and being restless. And now yesterday and today, naps are a battle too! argh!! Yesterday it took a couple HOURS for me to get him down for his long nap. First I got him to sleep in the moby, BUT he does not transfer from the moby, and I can't leave him there to nap because then i cant hold/nurse my toddler. And I just suck at trying to do anything productive while babywearing until I can put them on my back. So I tried to transfer, he wakes up, and is up for a LONG time before he goes back to sleep. I made a frozen lasagna for breakfast/lunch (first meal of the day, but it was almost 1 and I hadn't eaten a thing and was STARVING) and was sitting trying to eat it while holding an almost/kinda asleep baby. Then I dropped my fork. And I'm *starving*! STARVING! So I had to pick it up. Baby stirs. But it was dropped on the carpet and came up covered in cat hair and needed rinsed. Now he's REALLY awake. Try to get him back to sleep, he just screams. Try to eat with screaming baby. Not so fun. So I run him over to dh and say "HERE! He can scream on you just as easily as he can scream on me! I'M HUNGRY! I'M GOING TO EAT!" (course dh has him nice and calm and happy) then maybe like an hour after that he finally slept. Sigh. Then just now he woke up from a nap and had only slept probably less than an hour.. I was expecting a LONG nap. I was just about to shower too

sorry you've had a rough week so far I hope it gets better.

Today was a rough day here too. I decided to see if root beer yesterday - needless to say can't have any soda at all.....

Laine had a rough day today, Liam doesn't let her nap so she gets miserable. My house isn't big enough to keep the noise from reaching her. She wants to sleep a lot but she doesn't get so lucky, if its a good day she'll normally have several short waking periods and one long one and then sleep for the rest of the time.

Her personality is coming out a lot and she's such a different baby from DS. She's VERY sensitive to noise and sensory disturbances, like sudden movements. She's very calm and relaxed and likes her environment that way. DS is really loud and even his constant chattering causes her to cry, I think she just gets annoyed with him.

CookAMH - I have a sunsuit for Laine that I bought from Crazy8.com, I also use a gypsy mama water wrap and that has SPF 45. I cover her legs and head and tuck her arms in and she naps in it while we're at the pool.
