Ped recommendation in Lynchburg, Va?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant with our first, and I was just hoping that someone has a recommendation for a good pediatrictian in or near Lynchburg. I'm having a homebirth, and plan on breastfeeding, delayed vacs (at least), and co sleeping.

Are there any peds who support those things, or maybe if they don't support them, they at least won't fuss at you for doing them?

We use F Read Hopkins Pediatric Associates: Dr. Nichols
She's amazing! I breastfed DS for 1 year and she had no problems with it what-so-ever, we delayed certain vaccinations and co-slept with Jack for the first few months. She never had a problem with any of it! For that matter, she didn't really have anything to say about him not being circ'd either. We really like her and wouldn't go to anyone else. She is who he sees every visit and is supportive of the decisions we have made as his parents. She's ready to explain anything we don't understand an answers any questions we've had.

Good luck finding a pedi that's right for you! I'm not sure how you would go about doing this but I have heard of people having interviews with various pedis before bringing their children to them for visits.

I've got her number if you want it!

I tried Dr. Mumpher and she isn't taking any new patients right now. We're no-vax for religious reasons...I haven't seen Dr. Nichols but I know some at F. Red Hopkins are very pro-vax. Would she be someone who would be no-vax friendly as well? (Sorry to hi-jack your thread.)

I just wanted to update this:

I just called Dr. Mumper, and told them I was expecting our first at the end of November and asked if they were accepting new patients. She said that they were accepting new babies. I don't know if that applies to your situation or not, but I wanted to let you know.

I scheduled an appointment to meet her next week. Very excited!

Dr. Padilla of Richeson Dr. Peds has no problem with delaying my son's vaccines. He said as long as it was an "educated decision" he wouldn't mind delaying them. He let me choose which one(s) to give and when. Now, I have no idea about no vax, but he was very open to delaying.

Unfortunately for my wife and I F. Read Hopkins turned out to be everything we worried about in a pediatrician. We recently took our new premature born baby there for a follow up after discharge from the ICU. Doctor Fenton seemed very concerned that we had decided to not vaccinate for Hep b and RSV in the hospital. In fact it seemed like the ONLY thing she was concerned with. She pressed the issue to no avail. Upon realizing that my wife and I we're not going to agree to the vaccinations she stated that she would not be able to continue seeing out daughter as her patient. She made it clear that no one at Hopkins would treat her without being vaccinated. Very disturbing, and disappointing to say the least.
