Reviving the Stupid Comment Thread

Remember how I said I ususally just chalk dumb comments up to people just being dumb, and not pay them any attention?

Yeah, well. The hormones are getting to me.

And this comment isn't even that bad. But it's bugging me, hours later.

MY sis in law, who is just a year younger than me, been married to my brother for 7 years and no children, sees me today for the first time in a month or so and says...

"Wow, you're much bigger than you were with Elliot (my son). "

Who in their right mind thinks that's an appropriate thing to say to someone who is 9 months pregnant?!?!?!?!?!?!

Thankfully that comment was negated when I was walking at the mall again tonight and ran into a gal i know- several years younger than me, no kids- sees me and says, You just look fantastic! I love your tummy! You look great! I told her she's the perfect company for any pregnant woman and knows the perfect thing to say (and I was eating a peanut buster parfait when I ran into her!).

Yeah, I'm not sure who thinks it's a good idea to ever tell any woman at any time how "big" she is... Our church pianist told me that I looked much smaller than I did when pg with DD2... still not sure how to take that, "boy, you sure were big then!!!" Um, thanks...

I hear ya! I had to ask my husband to let my FIL know that making comments to me about "am I sure I'm not carrying twins" wasn't really a cool thing to say.

So he changed his tune to "so what day are you having the baby?" Annoying, but at least not offensive.

I knew Mom didn't mean anything by this, so I was able to take it in stride.

Mom: "She doesn't look pregnant, she just looks fat!"
Me: "Thanks, Mom!"

Right before I was born, she looked like she had swallowed a basketball. Me? I just look fat.

My mom asked me last time if I was sure it wasn't twins! Why would you say that!!!?
I hate "you are huge", "you look ready to pop" or best of all "you look like you are about to explode"
If all you can think of to say is a comment about my size then shut up. Lately I feel like saying "eyes on my face please".
To be fair I get a good amount of nice comments focused on my appearance and belly. "You look great!" "I love your belly" So it's not like it's off limits.

I actually had someone pass me in a store a couple weeks ago and when she noticed my belly said "whoa!" like she was totally taken aback.

I'm tired of being asked if it's twins. Today my neighbor told me i looked like i was going to explode. Can't people just say hi and you look beautiful?

I'm always SO tempted to respond about *their* weight/size... As in "yeah, you are looking a little bigger than last time I saw you, too!"
