I have NEVER EVER looked after giving birth and don't plan to this time either.
I am a chicken, but I don't care

DDC crashing saw this in new posts and thought I was the only one who had ever looked. I didnt look after my dd probably a good thing since I had a episiotomy from vagina to anus but with ds I did look and it wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I looked last time. I had to know. The biggest surprise was that I had stretch marks in places I never thought one could get stretch marks (and somehow my belly came out unscathed last time).

I didn't look last time and may or may not look this time. I never even THOUGHT of it. LOL!

Last time I looked a couple of days later, when the swelling had gone down a bit. Mostly because I had a small tear with a couple of stitches (I'd never had any stitches for anything so wanted to look). Mostly I've just been too chicken to even think about looking. . between the swelling and hemmorhoids. SHUDDER.

Oh I know I will look. I am a past L&D nurse and have pretty much see it all - I will need to see my results!
I had a friend who never looked after 3 kids - never looks at all, really, and freaked out last week when she did look because she saw a "large white bump and line" and thought she had some kind of tumor! LOL!! I had to remind her of all those stitches...

How brave of you! I didn't look with DD, and I probably wont look this time. Too scary.

Lol, now you all have me curious. They have always offered to let me, "see" in a mirror during labor and I have always refused. I did get to get a look in my early 2nd tri of pregnancy, b/c I had to try to straight cath myself and omg I was horrified with how swollen things were down there. DH ended up having to help me, b/c I just couldn't do it.

ddccrashin'

I looked after my first and it was horrendous, not going to lie. I couldn't even figure out what was going on. BUT that was a pretty bad birth tearing-wise. This time I am sooo scared to look (i'm 4 wks pp) even though I didn't tear and nothing even hurts. I think it's cool you looked! I really want to even though I REALLY don't want to, if that makes sense!

I looked yesterday, PP day 4, and everything looked to be about right, just red and swollen. But I didn't have an external tear (just a small internal one that I am sure was caused by my baby's super long fingernails!! ) so I know I am lucky to have everything so pretty. I do see now though that I did a pretty poor job grooming down there the last few weeks. Yikes!

I am totally scared to look! But I tore so bad the midwife had to call in reinforcements to sew me up! Maybe in a week or so...

I admit I looked before dd was born. I felt really swollen and I wanted to check it out. Well it was weird. I thought, jeez what a mess. But I've looked since and it's only been 4 days and already it's pretty normal looking. I don't feel normal yet though.
