I am home now - in bed with baby and DH's Iphone again
What a crazy morning!
Woke up at 4 am with annoying contractions 4 minutes apart.
Assumed thy would go away, but they did not. Call the midwife at 6,
and she was going to come just to check me , because I did not think it was the real thing.
Well, I was 5 cm when she checked me at 6:30!! Only thing was that my waters were bulging and baby was extremely high up... She never said I HAD to go in the hospital, but said she felt uneasy with the possibility of cord prolapse and asked what I wanted to do. Knowing somebody who had gone through it, I did not feel comfortable staying home either, so I went in.
People were super sweet, hands off and friendly, so I wasnot upset in the least about transfering. I used Entonox for a good part of it because I was just too
tired after 3 days of contractions and almost no sleep. It realy helped.
The water went at 9 - LOTS of it! Baby was still very high, but there was no cord, so I was told to do whatever I felt like.
I had no urge to push, but tried anyway and sure enough the baby descended. The whole head emerged, but then the baby got stuck by the
neck! I was really concentrating in getting the baby out, so I did not realize what was going on. DH said it was very scary, and two midwives had their hands inside trying to pull her out
I positioned my body different and pushed the hardest I ever had, and ther her body was born!
She was 10lbs 15oz, with broad little shoulders!
I never had such a big baby!
When the placenta was delivered, it weighed 2kg!
Now I know why I looked so huge
She was covered in vernix, something my others babies did not
have anymore by the time they were born. She has been eating nonstop all day, but has also spent a good time just looking around and being cute
She has a full head of black hair! Her siblings are in love, even my 18 mo.
