Sick dog - help!

I have no idea what could be wrong with my dog (3 1/2 year old golden retriever) and need help figuring it out.

Last Thursday, we noticed he wasn't eating much and seemed lethargic. I took him for a walk in the evening and he was dragging a bit and then threw up later that night. Friday, he seemed the same - not eating, acting sick and he threw up once. Saturday, he seemed to be perking up a bit but still not eating and I didn't take him out for a walk as I thought he just needed rest.

So far today, he's thrown up once, and has still seemed sick.

Do dogs get the stomach flu? What could this be? If he doesn't improve dramatically today, we'll get him to the vet tomorrow but I'd rather avoid that if possible. He's still drinking water but I'm getting worried.

Any thoughts? As far as I know, he hasn't injured himself (doesn't seem to be tender anywhere) or eaten anything irregular.

Lethargy makes me think lyme disease, I would google that if i were you. I'm not an expert or anything, so I don't want to scare you! Just saying that is what I would do for my dog in your situation.

Thanks - he doesn't have any of the symptoms for lyme disease (luckily!) except the lethargy so I think we're good there...

He needs a vet.

Sounds like he might have an obstruction in his intestines. VET NOW!

Thanks - he's perked up considerably and started eating so I think we'll still get him checked out, but he seems to be on the mend.

Oh, should add, I called our vet's emergency service and they said to wait until tomorrow based on his symptoms.

VET!!
Our dog was like that once because she had eaten all the cigarettes that workers had left outside on the ground while remodeling my house. We do not smoke so I had no clue! I didn't even see her doing it.
Give us an update and let us know!

this is what the very beginning of my dog's addison's disease looked like.
