uses for Walnut Oil?

Thread Starter
I have a large bottle of walnut oil i bought a couple years ago on a whim thinking it would be a great thing to cook with. Well, it's still unopened and I assume i should try to use it soon or it might go bad. If anyone has any recipes they like that call for walnut oil, i'd love to hear about them!! thanks

Walnut oil will go rancid on you. Open it and smell it - hopefully it's still okay. Once it's opened, keep it in the fridge.

Is this roasted walnut oil or plain (raw)? Either way I reserve walnut oil for salad dressings... but roasted walnut oil is a flavoring oil (so gets mixed with another oil), whereas plain (raw) is a neutral flavored oil.

I like baking with it or using on salads. hazelnut oil is also delicious.

We throw it over pasta with veggies and parmesean cheese.

If it's been a few years, it might not have made it.

I slather mine on salmon before I bake it. Delicious.
