Did I make myself gluten intolerant?

We took my son off of gluten almost 2 months ago. I've been GF since then too with the exception of 2 separate events when he wasn't with me. The first was a wedding - I had pasta and a beer - that evening I had horrible cramps and felt kind of crappy. Today I was at a party and had a piece of bread, a piece of cake as well as another beer. Again I feel like crap with the cramps, achy back, etc...

I had never felt this way before going off gluten for my son. Is my body just not used to having gluten anymore and freaks when I do have it? Or was I sensitive all along and never realized? Or is it just a weird coincidence?

I think you're the second mama this week asking that question ... Sounds like you have discovered that you are gluten intolerant - two trials is fairly conclusive! (Either that or beer is doing you in...)

Anyhow, lots of mamas uncover their own issues while trying to heal their kids. I apparently have a pretty big yeast problem, and I never would have guess that (but the stuff we are doing to heal DS' gut is giving me die off reactions, so...).

That happened to me as well. I was GF for 2yrs in support of my coeliac ds, but I started to eat it again occasionally and felt terrible every time I did. I have found though that I can tolerate it again, so maybe it just takes a bit of time to get used to it again?

FWIW, my ds has been on the GAPS diet and all of the foods that we eliminated as part of the gut healing have been really hard to reintroduce. I have managed to do it, but it meant bringing in 1 tsp at a time per day and slowly building back up again (the doctor who wrote the book spoke of introducing the foods again slowly due to this).

That would be the answer.

I agree, you were probably intolerant to begin with. Every time I try to have chocolate (because I just can't get it through my thick head that I'm intolerant to it) the symptoms get worse.
