Saw this and thought it was a pretty good deal- I don't know anything about this magazine, though. Are any of you familiar with it??

Love it.

Fun read, nice clean layout and some pages good for cutting out and framing as fun art.

I'm totally getting it.

I really dislike that magazine, LOL! For something titled "real simple" it certainly is choked with a gazillion of ads for expensive products that you can buy to make your life more "natural.

Plus, they turned me off years ago with their anti-breastfeeding crappoa: https://www.mothering.com/discussion...ad.php?t=77689
Apparently one of the top 20 time savers you can do is to formula feed over breastfeed.

Thanks! I ordered it... even though I've never heard of it and I can't seem to keep up with the magazines I already get. But for $5, I figured I might as well.

DARN! I had a $25 GC to Amazon so I just bought (as in my first issue just arrived this month) the 2-yr subscription to Real Simple and paid $17 out of my pocket, in addition to using the GC.

WHAT A DEAL!!!! Grrrr . . . . wish I hadn't seen this!

I used to get it, it's a pretty nice mag

Yep, just ordered this two days ago. I had LITERALLY just returned home from the grocery store where I had bought the latest issue. I hadn't read it in YEARS and I saw an ad for this in my inbox. I figured it was $5 an issue, so $5 for an entire year was a pretty good deal and something fun and cheap to look forward to each month.

I agree that some parts of it are a little annoying with the super expensive crap advertised, but I like a lot of the ideas, and the layout is very easy on the eyes.

I like it. It's real simple, but the stuff in there never said "real cheap", lol.

We call it "Real Expensive" and yes, I wont buy it because of their anti breastfeeding stance several years back. They even did it in the August issue which is World Breastfeeding month.

I like this magazine, although some of the products they highlight are insanely expensive and nothign simple about it.... but I do get good ideas that get the creative juices flowing per se.

For $5, it's a great value.

I wasn't aware of all that history with them..
It's just so strange. What could be more "simple" than breastfeeding? No added materials or things.. just what nature gave us.

Thanks for the link! I find it bizarre to buy something to clutter my house in the hopes that life will get more simple, but it has some good ideas in it.

that's what I was thinking since I have magazines laying around that I haven't even looked at yet. But I still ordered it.

.
Someone got me a subscription as a gift and every month I just shake my head as I read it. It should just be called "Things to Buy."
And the articles aren't that interesting IMO.

But for $5, that's a great deal if you know you like the mag.

Yeah, that article was a HUGE turn off. Actually, there is that 'idea' in this culture that you need all sorts of stuff to breastfeed.

No joke, I remember seeing an ad once (I think it was babies R us) and they had the caption "breastfeeding necessities". Bottles, pumps, nipple cream, nursing covers, yada, yada, yada.

All I've every needed was a baby and my breasts. Go figure!

(It might be not as rare here, but I've actually never used a baby bottle...EVER)

I don't like Real Simple for the reasons already stated, but I like magazines (a lot) and so I ordered Country Living which is a decorating mag that isn't as corny as it sounds. $10 list price/year with a special $5 reduction taken when you checkout so it's also a $5 scrip. FYI!!
