can i move my garden?

I started a small vegetable garden this year, and I just found out I'm moving in a month. My kale and lettuce are pretty much harvestable now (albeit small..) and I'm hoping I can harvest my chard as well before I go. However, I also planted pumpkin, buttercup squash, summer squash, cucumbers, pole beans, echinacea, sage, and dill.. Can I dig any of those up and bring them with me, or am I better off just letting it go? I also thought I may put my garden up on freecycle and see if anyone's willing to come care for it and then they can take the veggies from it afterwards...

In a month you may get some of your beans, the dill you can probably cut & dry, the rest will have to stay.

You can try digging up the herbs. I've tried it before and been able to keep rosemary alive, but not basil or parsley. Never tried your two. But, I will say, my sage isn't supposed to come back every year and it does, so I think it's pretty hearty.

Your cucumbers will probably be done in a month, or nearly done, so that's not a big loss. The fall veggies, though, are very dissapointing.

I just moved a moving truck full of tomato, squash and herbs. It took both me and my husband to pick up a couple of the squash plants. I would give it a try, I took the squash plants and put them into containers, keeping as much of the soil that they grew in as possible. It is really amazing how little soil the cucurbits need to produce a huge plant. They struggled a bit in the new location but they are really hearty and are bouncing back prolifically. Transition them to the pots now and then see how they do over the next month.

I wouldnt bother with the annuals, but i definitely would move the echinacea and sage. The echinacea I have that is huge and flowering profusely now has been moved twice.
