Troubleshooting a snap press

Thread Starter
I'm in the process of converting my velcro BumGenius dipes to snaps. I got a snap press, got it all figured out...and it looks like I pressed too hard on the socket snap, bending one side of the ridge in, such that the other half doesn't snap into it. Two questions:
1)Any rule of thumb in how hard to press the press when using plastic snaps?
2)Any way to fix this? I can't figure out how to get the faulty snaps off. I hate to waste an entire $17 dipe...

I have the Kam snap press. I put the pieces on the press and make sure the bottom is lined up just right and shove it down as hard as I can to make sure it takes. When I have broken one, I used a dremel to get it off. Just find an appropriate bit that will allow you to dremel out the center till it lets go and then replace snap with new one. Hope that helps
