I'm a hooker I personally like the videos over at NexStitch. You can view a simple crochet stitch or more fancy ones. Quite helpful.

I've found LOTS of easy patterns by just googling "easy baby blanket crochet pattern" or something similar. If you know how to chain and do a single or double stitch you can always chain a length you like and then just work back and forth until you have good size. This woman has some pretty easy to follow instructions if there's anything specific you've forgotten, I've used her videos plenty of times.

Good luck!
