Walter the Farting Dog???

My DS received this book as a gift. DP refuses to read it to him. He thinks it's mildly offensive (or something?). He says he thinks farting should not be made fun of as everyone does it. I just roll my eyes and say it's a book. He's 5yo and thinks it's hilarious. I have 2 nephews from 2 different families who have loved the book at the same age. I have never heard anyone say they think it was offensive? What do ya'll think? Am I awful for letting him read it?

two of my 2 yo's favorite books are "everyone poops" and "the gas we pass"....seriously now, farts are FUNNY...

The farting doesn't offend me at all. My kids always thought it was funny, as did I, but what I can't get over are the illustrations. Something about them just creeps me out.

I don't think fart humor is particularly funny myself, so I really cannot stand these books. At. All.

But that's just me. If you and DS find it funny, what could possibly be the harm?

Perhaps that can just be your book to share with DS?

DD, DP and I have things like that. Some things, are just to do with daddy, some things only with mama. And she knows that mama and daddy do some thing with each other than don't include her.

We LOVE the Walter books!! Of course, my family is big into bathroom humor but still… I don’t really see how it could be offensive unless you’re SUPER proper & uptight.

I also think that there is a sweet message of acceptance with Walter the Farting Dog.

This is our family too. One of the biggest reasons we avoid stuff like this is because my kids all think it's hysterical and they didn't need to be encouraged!
