I think a lot of it is dependant on their bone structure too. 12 pounds wouldn't be out of the norm for male persians. My male persian is nearly 12 pounds. His paws and bone structure though is super thick though, and he's solid muscle and a BIG cat.

However, if you put 12 pounds on our new girl she'd be obese. She's not heavily boned and she's 'healthy' at 7 pounds. Ideally she'd be more like 8!

Yeah, she should probably be around 8 or 9. She is defintely obese I hardly feed her anything, she just doesnt lose weight. I feel like a very bad cat mama. I recently switched from EVO because of its high calories (and she as getting less than 1/4 c a day) so maybe I will find something....I keep trying

We have 6 pets. The cats (no special breeds here) Damian, Dante, Ramone and Baby Kitty (his real name is Roland after the Gunslinger, but no one calls him that). Our dogs are Dexter, a pomeranian/chin mix and Rhage is a poodle/chi mix.

Two cats. Casper is a 14 year old female Maine Coon and Frodo is a 4 year old poorly bred blue and white Persian boy.

Two fish. Zoe and Darfy are both Marigold swordtails.

We've got an English Springer Spaniel, Charlie, who might be 10 to 12 years old. We got him from a Springer rescue. He was found wandering in a Dennys parking lot. He's wonderful.

A gold fish named Jimmy.

But the overlord of this house is Snickers the guinea pig. He must be obeyed.
