H1N1 Vaccine

Will you be letting your kids get this new vaccine? I'm afraid to do it and afraid not to. There was a vaccine given during the Carter administration (I think) that killed people. Don't know what I'm going to do when this comes around.

Absolutely not. I weigh each vaccine against the risks of the disease. The "swine flu" is incredibly mild. Why would I risk an untested vaccine?

Nope. My friends son had the actual flu a month or so ago and he's fine.

ETA: We don't get the regular flu shot either.
No we won't be getting it, or any other vaccine.
Heck no!
No way! This is not going to be good. I think the best we can hope for is that it does nothing at all.

Heck no!

(I am going to be ready to "self quarantine" though should any of us get the flu this year)

We dont do regular flu vax either.

No, we won't. I did read this and it looks like nobody is planning on forcefully vaccinating, so I'm at least glad about that. Not that they want pregnant women and small children to be priority. Yikes

Absolutely not.

No. The World Health Organization has the following to say about the vaccine (emphases my own):

Quote:
Since new technologies are involved in the production of some pandemic vaccines, which have not yet been extensively evaluated for their safety in certain population groups, it is very important to implement post-marketing surveillance of the highest possible quality.
Translation: Shoot 'em up now, assess the damage later. That's all that I needed to make my decision.

No way.

No way, no how.

Yes.

Not!

Not a chance. Be afraid to do it. Very afraid.

Here is a very scary article!

To the original poster....

this is exactly what the powers that be are counting on...your fear.

Even if you vaccinate, why would you choose to inject yourself or your children with a vaccine that has been created in a matter of months and not gone through any stringent safety tests...like an above poster said...they are even admitting to "shoot em up now..assess the damage later"
Not only that but think about this logically. This strain of the flu is proving to be less virulent in terms of lives claimed than the regular seasonal flu.

Also I persoanlly do not believe this flu is any different than any other H1N1 flu out there. How can they create a vaccine in a matter of months on a virus that is supposedly new and never been seen before (combo of avian, regular and swine). Prior to creating a vaccine, or even a screening test for that matter, this virus would have needed to be identified and isolated. They were "screening" for "swine flu" 4 days after the first cases in Mexico...this is not possible....you can't screen for never before seen virus that has not been isolated. There are dozens of strains of H1N1 and even more strains of Influenza A flaoting around out there that have been isolated. It all doesn't add up and it all stinks.

So to anser the original question .....No Freakin way!!!

I don't vaccinate anyway for anything, but even if I was a selectiev delayed vaxer I would pass on this one. Talk about Russian Roulette...sheesh

I took it to mean that we're essentially all guinea pigs and this is a massive experiment. We're essentially disposable. I was so angry when my brother was treated as a disposable thing while he was in Iraq, so I'm not that surprised that kids, healthcare workers and pregnant moms are disposable too.

Um, first off, you want us to get injected with something that no one has any idea of the side effects of. On top of that, while it may provide *some* protection against the H1N1 flu, if it mutates it certainly won't be 100% effective for pretty much anyone; it can't be. I've been hearing rumors on the net of the "effectiveness" of this vaccine where it's been tested and the side effects aren't pretty, however, I cannot say that these are valid or accurate. Either way, we'll take our chances with the flu. It can be really nasty and isn't always mild, but people die of the regular flu as well so I'm not convinced it's a lot worse than that.
