Ergo seems uncomfortable for my baby

I used my ergo carrier with my twins once they were about 12 months old. I love it! So comfy and quick to put on.
I bought the infant insert for my new baby and found out it is pretty hot for him in the summer. then tried it again recently at the Farmer's market and noticed the way he sits his knees hang out (using the side-sit infant insert) cause he is a very long baby and his circulation was being cut off to his legs - his poor feet were purple! yikes. I tried readjusting a couple times and he was not getting proper circulation.
So then I tried having him belly to belly with me, but having his legs splayed out around me (he is 8 wks old) was not comfortable to him even tho I'm a small/avg sized mommy (5'4 and 123 lbs). I've tried making his feet froggy in the pack with belly to belly, but he comes out looking like his feet were not comfy either.
So in order to ever go anywhere with him and my twins, I need something to carry him in until he is big enough to enjoy the ergo.
So, what would you recommend? Right now at 8 wks old he is 12 lbs and 23 1/2 inches long. Thanks so much

I used a stretchy wrap--a Moby--at that stage. It takes a little bit of practice to tie, but then you can wear it all day and pop baby in and out because of the stretch. DD got a bit too big for it at about 5 months, when she was 16 or so pounds.

I would suggest a moby or a mei tai. Although there are other SSCs that you can use with newborns- the pikkolo is one and I think the beco butterfly would work too.

Definitely a wrap. I used a moby at that stage, and it was great, but if I had it to do over again I might use a woven wrap instead -- I think it would be cooler in the summer, and it's more versatile in the long run.

The Pikkolo would be a good choice and allow legs-out, and it's fairly lightweight. You already have the Ergo though and the Pikkolo is really in the same category.

The Moby is a great wrap, but it's way hot, and the same holds true for many woven wraps. For something less expensive and cooler, my vote if you want to try a wrap would be for a Wrapsody Breeze -- lightweight, very adaptable, but supportive.

At that age I used a ring sling & we loved it until he just got too heavy for me to carry him on one shoulder (around 20lbs for me).
