Anyone BTDT with a saltwater aquarium and sea horses? Please share your pros/cons, facts/myths, challenges/rewards, etc. with an enthusiastic and completely inexperienced newbie. Thanks.

OH! I never had a salt water aquarium, but I did have some seahorses in a little fishtbowl with salt water when I was a kid! I LOVED them! But one disappeared ( neighbor kid may have taken it out) and I always thought the other one died from lonliness...

Of course I was just a kid and probably wasn't taking care of them quite right...

Enjoy your saltwater aquarium and your seahorses!

oh my, saltwater inhabitants need far more than a fish bowl! I have freshwater aquariums. Saltwater intimidates the heck out of me. I don't think I'll try that for a very long time, if ever.

what do you think would be the hardest part of maintaining a sw aquarium?

Oh we had them and LOVED them! When we get settled back in the states we are going to do it again.
I've never done fresh water so I can't compare, but once it is up and running salt is not hard. If you find a good water pets store they will walk you through the set up process.
You want to be sure that there are plenty of purches for them to rest on, and we found that we had to feed them live brine shrimp.Tey wouldn't eat the frozen.
Make sure to get a good under gravel filter system, and enjoy!
We had the big ones, they were so neat!

thanks so much for the encouragement! I found a local aquarium store, so I'm going to stop in and have them give me the low down
