Breech Birth is changing. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) announced recently that women should be offered the choice to birth their breech babies vaginally. Research now says that breech vaginal birth is safe when women are attended by caregivers trained and experienced in vaginal breech birth. And the SOGC has made a commitment to train doctors.
The Coalition for Breech Birth advocates for the re-normalization of vaginal breech birth. In October the Coalition is bringing together mothers, doctors, midwives, doulas and more from Canada, the US, the UK, Germany and Australia (including Jane Evans, Mary Cronk, Ina May Gaskin, Lisa Barrett, and Betty-Anne Daviss) at the second International Breech Conference to move this new commitment forward.
