How much do your Homebirth Midwives charge? - Page 5

Wow, I'm feeling pretty lucky right now. We're having a hard time paying for this birth already but if it was as much as some of you have to pay...I'd have to have a UC or go to a hospital.

My midwife starts out at $1500, but it's $2000 for VBACs and first time moms. It's $85 for the first prenatal/history and then $45 for each prenatal after that. Labs are separate. You pay for things like chux pads and towels and she provides cord clips and other birth-kit items.

My midwife charges $4500 to the insurance company for both home or birth center births (because they typically only reimburse about 70%). If you are paying cash she charges $3200 unless you are a repeat customer, which is $2800.

$3,000 for prenatal, birth and postpartum. She doesn't do u/s, and doesnt' require them unless she thinks somethings wrong. So if I want one done I have to get it myself, but insurance covers that if I need to. She has her own fetascope and birth pool. She also brings her own camera and video camera if you want it filmed and dont' have one.

This thread is making me much more comfortable with the cost of my HB. My husband has been stressing about it and these numbers will definitely make him feel better! Honestly, if it were any more $$ than we are paying, it wouldn't be an option.

We are paying $1,800

We're paying $3100. My midwives have raised their fees quite a bit since my other kids were born. With DD it was $2400 (4 years ago) and with DS is was $1900 (2 1/2 years ago). $3100 is the new rate... we did get a bit of a break for being return clients, but not a lot.

My insurance covers none since they aren't CNMs. The only CNMs in my area refuse to attend VBACs

From what it seems to me states where direct entry/LM/CPM are legal and standardized in some way fees are higher. States where medicaid covers homebirth fees also seem higher.

Hello. I'm in Chicago, IL. There are about 5 different midwives in my area. It seems they all charge the same fee. $4000 for all prenatal visits, delivery, 3 visits postpardum. (doesnt' include ultrasounds, tests, etc. submitting to my insurance seperately). If you pay before 35 week(i believe) you receive a $500 discount. The birthkit I have to buy on my own is $40 plus other supplies. I am also renting a birthing pool from my midwife and thats $200.

yay to homebirth.

$4000. Includes all prenatal visits (at least 10, she said, of 45-60 minutes), the birth, three postpartum visits, lactation support and the six-week checkup.
We have BCBS PPO health insurance and after my $1000 deductible is met it will reimburse 50%.

Something between $3200 and $3600. I can't remember the exact number and I'm too lazy to go look at the contract.
