hemp vs bamboo inserts

Please tell me the pros and cons of each. Thanks

I like and use both. For us, I'd say they are pretty equally absorbant. Some people have stink problems with hemp, but I never have. Hemp goes through a stiff stage of their life, but get softer later on. Bamboo starts off very soft but for me, has tended to get less soft over time. I personally think hemp will last more years.

There was a recent thread here about the manufacturing process for bamboo not being very environmentally friendly, if that matters to you.

I will still pick either over cotton (they are more absorbant/less bulky from my experience) or microfiber (synthetic material).

Hemp is very absorbant, natural healing properties.
Good for the earth as it takes little from the soil and water to raise it. Used as a rotational crop - easy process to fiber

Bamboo is very absorbant, heat regulating, thinner than hemp in weight and usually less substance to the fabric and more drapey.
The harvesting practices are particularly agressive to the land and the chemicals are alot to get it to fiber for milling.

Both are beautiful fabrics though, largely coming out of China.

Organic Cotton Fleece and Organic Cotton Velour are lovely fabrics and often times home grown in the USA.

I like them all but will choose them for different situation in contruction of diapers.

They both seem about the same absorbency to me. Hemp tends to get stiffer (especially if line dried). I know bamboo is more difficult to harvest, and isn't as environmentally friendly.
