When can a child handle Harry Potter 4? - Page 2

Def agree that it is seriously dependant on the child's sensativity.

Mine is 4.10 and LOVES all the HP movies. In fact, he prefers anything with fantasy or an "eerie" theme. He has never gotten spooked or had nightmares with any of it. He's extremely facinated by ghosts...both real and portrayed in movies. Halloween is a hoot.
But he knows that these things are images on the screen and I do really think he understands that.

It's too early to tell if he'll ever get into reading these...I doubt it based on his current personality, but he's still sloughing off his toddler persona so we'll see.
I hope he does. It will be cool to discuss with him.

My kids are 3 and 5 and have seen it. I'm not about letting them watch too violent/scary of movies, but they really like Harry Potter. Luckily, they're still young (and easily distracted) so there didn't seem to be any issues or concerns.

Now just to figure out if we can see the newest one!

Thanks for the replies. She had seen HP 4, 5 and I took her to see HP 6 this past weekend and she loved it. I did make her close her eyes when they showed a preview of the movie 2012 (ugh, was that scary imagery).

She did great through them all, no worries, and now she's reading HP 4. She's on the 10th chapter already and seems fine with it. I didn't even read ahead of her this time.

I would try it out. DS was 9 when he saw #5 movie. I don't want to give anything away, but DS is VERY close with his godfather. He was a little bit disturbed by the events. On the other hand, getting into #6, he can "understand" Harry's point of view on some things. He feels the same way. So that was kind of neat, that he was able to strongly identify with a book/movie character.

It sounds has you have carefully guided you daughter. You know her best, so you will know how to proceed.
