Big square bottoms

I am going to cloth diaper my baby due in a few months. I have only been around 1 baby that wore cloth. Her mom swears by mother-ease one size and air flow covers. I know a lot of people here love them too.

I think the diapers themselves look nice, the covers look like they would definitely leave red marks, though.

I don't like how they look under clothes. They make a huge butt and make the clothes look tight. Is it like that with all cloth and just something I have to except or is it those blommer-like covers?

Some diapers are definitely more trim than others, but cloth diapers do give a little more "cushy" look to the little tush! I think it's cute.

Prefolds with covers are pretty trim, and some pocket styles are. There are lots of options!

We use mostly pockets, AI2s and AIOs here, with the occasional prefold and cover. I'm not hugely fond of PUL covers; most of the ones I've tried have seemed too stiff and boxy and uncomfortable, so I reserve PFs/covers for days when I've been too busy/lazy to wash and stuff our normal stash.

The trimmest, highest-quality diapers we have are:
Eli Monster AIOs
Thirsties AIOs
Haute Pockets one-size
Old style Fuzzi Bunz pockets
GADs pockets and AIOs
Mommy's Touch OS pockets

ETA: I agree that a big fluffy butt is really cute, especially in a footed romper. DS reminds me of a Who (Dr Suess) with his big ol' butt in a footie suit.

I've heard good things about the ME one size. Many folks seem to use them with Thirsties covers instead of the ME ones. You could also go with fleece or wool pants/shorts which will serve as a cover as well without needing a separate piece.

The other thing about the one size diapers is that they tend to be more bulky than those in individual sizes, especially on the smaller end. You give up some trimness for the ability to use them for longer than sized dipes. I think Sandy's are the ME sized diaper, plus there are many other options out there.

I like the look of Thirsties covers under clothes more than mother-ease air flow, but they do work great and don't cut into his legs. My 11wk boy is not a super chunk but he is in the 90% for weight. But being a dollar more than thirsties, I would buy more thirsties just since we love them so much. THey're soo cute and ME aren't as cute but are very functional and good for variety. A friend had highly recommended them to me. It contained poop very well the other night where a sposie would have blown out the sides.

Thanks! I am planning on mostly prefolds (from GMD), a few semi-fitteds. For covers, I'll try a bummis and a thirsties as well as getting my MIL to sew some fleece ones (which I realize would add bulk). I also plan on getting some rainforest babies as they are really affordable and review seems good and mention that they are trim. I will be checking out the others mentioned.

I could see that big diaper bottoms could be cute but I have fat enough babies already, LOL. I just really am not for the square look the the bloomeer-type seems to give.

All cloth diapers are fluffier than sposies. Some are more trim than others (like prefolds, fitteds, or sized AIO/pockets). Especially at first, with an itty bitty baby, there's just a little more bulk. We just buy clothes accordingly, usually seperates with bigger pants than he would wear with sposies.

It's adorable, really!
