Hi there, we have a thumb sucker. It has started affecting his speech. He has an open mouth and tongue forward position a lot. We remind him to close his mouth. We also remind him during the day to not suck his thumb, distract. I am looking for any other advice on this - getting him to stop, and also help on correcting his speech. My mom thinks his speech is really immature. His language is great. He was also a premmie. We don't qualify for our local speech program yet, but I did go to 2 parent sessions where suggestions were offered - pretty much what I wrote above. Plus modelling proper speech. He also had a lot of colds when he was a baby.
