Need overnight option for 5 y.o.

I CD'ed w/ DS5 when he was a baby then after about a year we stopped due to moving multiple times, no washer dryer, etc. My son has always been a super soaker plus he is a heavy sleeper and moves around a lot a night.

Now that it's summer he is drinking a lot more and the regular overnight pull-ups aren't working (not that they ever did 100% anyway. He leaks every single night. I have also used regular diapers in size SEVEN and he leaks through that as well. We already cut liquids at least 1 hr. before bed, LOTS of potty trips in that hour as well. Still wakes up with leaks.

We are on vacation and my stepdad thought of putting a ShamWow towel in his dipe, like a doubler. I'm desperate, so we tried it. Totally worked. No leaks for the first time in months. And I haven't had to worry about him ruining all the mattresses we are using.

So my questions:
The ShamWow towel is made of "rayon material" Not sure if that's safe to be used against his skin and penis. Maybe with a fleece liner? Is it different from microfleece?

Also, would like to just get a cloth pull-up type diaper for overnight, maybe with an insert option. We used FuzziBuns, fully stuffed with hemp and I like them. But he is starting to be upset about wearing a diaper, so it needs to be more like underwear in style. Any suggestions??

TIA!

i would try maybe a toddler prefold with the sham wow wrapped inside with a pul cover over. i wouldnt put the sham wow against his skin though. a fleece liner would work fine!

The snap-EZ look good to me but I haven't tried them.
