Hmmm...I haven't seen the Medela one, but I have an Easy Expressions hands-free pump band. Here are my tips for that one. Hopefully they will be helpful to you as well. Sending good thoughts your way!
Tips for the hands free pump band:
--When you're first using it, it's easiest if you just remove your shirt and bra. (Once you're comfortable with it, it's easy without removing those things.) It also helps to have a small towel (a hand towel or dishtowel works well) on your lap if you're leaking.
--The elastic edge of the pump band will go around your back and fit under your breasts.
--After bringing the band around your back, zip it up about halfway.
--Then, take 1 pump breast shield, put it on your breast and through the hole of the pump band. Since the band is zipped partway, it will basically stay in place.
--Then take the other pump breast shield, put it on your breast and through the hole of the pump band.
--Zip the pump band up the rest of the way.
--Adjust the pump breast shields to that your nipples are in the middle.
--Attach the collection bottles. Plug the tubes in.
--Pump away.
:-)
PS I like to have an extra collection/storage bottle or a bag with me so that I can stop and pour some of the milk out of the collection bottle mid-pump. That way the collection bottles don't get too heavy.
