Vaccines and little league?

I'm asking this question way in advance, but it's something I'd like to have some idea about before the issue ever comes up. DS1 is 2, and next year he'll be able to play in the 3 year olds t-ball group and I want to sign him up next summer. The fliers say that a complete physical is needed of course, but I'm assuming they'll want proof of vax. We don't vax at all.

Has anyone had any issues with putting their non-vaxed kids in little league? The program we'll be going through is ran by MCCS (as a military program on base).

Why would you even need a complete physical for t-ball? That sounds so weird to me.

Its probably just a sports physical, and no, they don't care about vaxes. I played softball for 15 years and all my children (except the LO) have played ball for years and never has anyone asked about vax status. Its a quick physical to check height, weight, reflexes, heart beat, and other simple things. They usually go by a checklist. Really simple.

Thanks! That's a huge relief. I don't want my kids missing out on things because of vax status. Thanks again!

just_lily, I'm not sure why. I was just reading the flier that was emailed to me.

My kids have needed things like that for sports, and I simply do the same I would do if they were going to school. It is not required, they are just asking for the information. They aren't going to be giving your kids a tetanus shot on the baseball field, but they want to know that info to cover themselves, I think.

Our son's LL requires the date of their most recent tetanus vax and the name and number of the pediatrician. I don't believe they are checking up on the vax with the doctor though....I would have found out if they were because our current ped does not have DS1's vax records. It does require a signature that all the information provided is true. I am not sure how the league would react to a non-vaxed child or a request for an exemption.
