Sore nipples still?

My little one will be 4 weeks old on Sunday and I STILL have sore nipples. I thought by now my body would have gotten used to all the nursing. Mainly they are just tender when he first latches or when I'm super engorged (usually at night when he goes longer between feedings). Anyone else still sore?

I am 4 weeks pp, and my nipples are still very tender. I can't stand them to be touched and if the water touches them in the shower--ouch!

With DD (#1), nipples were sore for a good 6 weeks pp.

I feel your pain! They will get better eventually.

You know that tender care lanolin from medela is the BEST i have found. tried lansinoh- not as good. it might cost $9 for a tube at target, but it's soooo worth it. made the shower easier too.

i've been pumping since april. sometimes when we nurse, they still get sore.

Remi will be 3 weeks on Sunday and I'm still having sore nipples too. It's not NEARLY as bad as it was with my first babe though. Only the initial latch, or occasionally longer if I'm nursing in bed and don't pay enough attention to the latch. It's frustrating though. At some point, if I recall correctly, the pain just stops. You will notice one day that "oh, it doesn't hurt anymore" and that will be that.

I don't want to bring ya'll down or anything, but mine are still tender at seven weeks. But, mine got totally trashed (cracked to pieces) in the early days, and we had a bad case of thrush to deal with later on too, so I'm not counting this as a normally-developing case! Hopefully you will all feel better soon! :

I bought the Medela Tender Care Hydro Gel pads to place over my nipples when sore, but only used one this time around. They really help, especially if you put them in the refrigerator prior to use.

We're 8 weeks pp on Sunday and still don't have nursing down. I'm hoping this is because of a posterior tongue tie, but we couldn't get an appointment to see the expert until next week. She has a whole host of problems with her suck and underdeveloped muscles, thankfully having nursed two already, I was able to spot quickly that the problem was with her, not just me being sensitive or something.

For various reasons my husband does overnight feeds, which thankfully for him is only one so my nipples generally get a 10ish hour break overnight, without that I don't think I'd be dealing as well with the pain.

If you haven't used lanolin before be cautious with already sore nipples -- you could have a sensitivity to it which can make your whole deal much worse. I know, happened to me last time. At 6 weeks pp you shouldn't be having pain imo unless there is some issue. Mild thrush, sucking issues, etc. I'd visit a IBCLC to get it checked out. Bfing shouldn't hurt at this point. Been there, done it! Wish I had gotten help sooner than I did!
